Adrienne Simmons, 34, Dies From Injuries Suffered in Bout

It was announced Tuesday morning by the Orange County Sheriff's Office in Orlando that Adrienne Simmons passed away after she was knocked unconscious during an International Kickboxing Federation fight in Orlando (Fl) on Sunday. She was 34 years old.

Simmons, who was from Atlanta – was hit with a left hook by opponent Lindsay Scheer, the blow created immediate swelling and sent Simmons down. She was treated by a doctor in the ring as the referee waived off the fight.

Simmons' boyfriend, Chike Lindsay-Ajudua, and her trainer, were upset that no ambulance was present at the fight to transport her immediately to the hospital. When Simmons arrived at the hospital she was already considered to be in critical condition.

Promoter Steve Fossum, stated that emergency crews were on standby at a nearby fire station, that was about two minutes away.

We send our hopes and prayers out to Adrienne's friends and family.
