Joe Schilling and Brandon Banda rumored to fight for vacant WBC Muay Thai Light Heavyweight U.S. National Title

On Tuesday Muay Thai Authority broke the news that Shawn Yarborough had been stripped of his WBC Light Heavyweight U.S. National Title. Muay Thai Authority has since heard from sources close to the situation that interim WBC Muay Thai Super Middleweight U.S. National Champion Joe Schilling is going to move up a weight class and take on Brandon Banda for the vacant title at Lion Fight Promotions August 20th event in Primm, NV. Lion Fight Promotions has not made any official announcements regarding the bout.

Schilling last competed in March when he defeated Chase Green in the first round to capture the WBC Muay Thai Super Middleweight U.S. National Title. Schilling has a career record of 10-1and his latest wins include Ryan Roy, Chaz Mulkey, and Chase Green all of which were by stoppage. Schilling has been the subject to criticism by people stating that he shouldn't cut as much weight as he does and should fight at a higher weight class instead of super middleweight. Although it seems very unlikely that Schilling has decided to move up in weight to please those critics they are going to get to see Schilling at higher weight class in this bout.

Bandon Banda last saw action in February when he defeated then champion Shawn Yarborough in a non-title fight. Banda and Schilling have fought before on the amateur circuit and as soon as Schilling defeated Green to capture the WBC title Banda hit facebook calling out Schilling, even stating that he was willing to drop down to super middleweight.
