The rankings have some new faces. Some fighters have been inactive and some guys just got back into the swing of things. There is also one fighter who was long overdue to be on here (Simon Marcus) and he is probably going to give anyone ranked ahead of him a run for their money.
1. Ky Hollenbeck (11-0-1) Hollenbeck defeated Wong Foo Long near the end of June at the WCK show held in the Philippines. The victory came by TKO, Hollenbeck's first TKO in his last three fights. His fight in July fell through and the American stand out is now set to defend his WBC Muay Thai interim world title against Simon Chu from the U.K. The hard hitting Chu will provide another stiff test for Hollenbeck at the August 20th at Lion Fight Promotions "Battle in the Desert 3" event.
2. Kevin Ross (17-6)Kevin Ross got back to his winning ways by stopping Mark DeLuca at Lion Fight Promotions "Battle in the Desert 2". Ross was able to impose his will, and eventually earned a doctor stoppage. The win now sets up the stage for his August showdown with Saenchai Sinbimuaythai at Stand Up Promotions "M1 Grand Muay Thai Championship". If Ross can defeat arguably the best fighter in the world then the number one spot in the rankings would likely have his name.
3. Romie Adanza (11-2)Adanza has now posted back-to-back wins since his defeat last December in the finals of the WCK 4 man tournament. A stellar KO of Thanit "Boom" Whattanaya was followed up by a decisive decision win over Huang Hai Gong. Adanza was scheduled to face Demian Trainor at Lion Fight Promotions "Battle in the Desert 3" until an injury forced him to withdraw from the bout.
4. Joe Schilling (10-1)
Schilling dismantled Chase Green to win the interim WBC National Super Middleweight Title back in March. A rumored fight with Kaoklai never materialized and now Schilling is set to move up to light heavyweight to fight Brandon Banda for the WBC Muay Thai light heavyweight national title at Lion Fight Promotions "Battle in the Desert 3". It seems Schilling is willing to move back and forth between weight classes until he begins to land fights against big name opponents.
Embree avenged his loss to Coke Chunhawat in the semi-finals of the Journey Fight Series tournament and is now set to face Josh Palmer in the finals. Embree is definitely setting himself apart from much of the competition especially since he is fighting well above his normal weight class. The finals for the tournament are set for October and the bout with Palmer is expected to be an exciting one.
Marcus recently signed with the Muaythai Premier League and after years of flying under the radar will get to show his skill against some of the best fighters in the world. Many people have asked questions about the Canadian fighter especially because in 2009 he competed as amateur in the United States despite having over 30 full rules fights. With the Muaythai Premier League now having signed Marcus many people will get to see what the Siam No. 1 product has to offer.
7. Jesse Miles (13-2)Jesse Miles defeated Charlie Annonay at the Ringmasters event on Feb. 4th, the win was a good way to bounce back after his decision loss to Comso Alexandre at the Kings Cup in Thailand this past December. Miles was confirmed as being one of the sixteen fighters that took part in The Challenger Muay Thai which will premier this September. The Challenger Muay Thai is a follow up to The Contender Asia.
Josh Palmer punched his ticket to the finals of the Journey Fight Series tournament by defeating Justin Greskiewicz by TKO in the semi-finals of the tournament. He is now set to meet fellow Canadian Matt Embree in the tournament finals. Palmer has already stated that he would like to keep busy with at least one fight in between now and October when the tournament finals take place.
Florida's Alex Berrios returned to action after a year long lay off at Friday Night Fights "8-to-1" event on July 22nd. Despite having the long lay off t Berrios showed no signs of ring rust as he was able to pick Rigel Balsamico apart in route to a TKO victory. Having finished college Berrios now looks to focus more on Muay Thai.
The young Canadian fighter has already started to make a name for himself. His most recent victory came against formerly undefeated Ben Case. Other victories on his resume include Sean Hinds and Dorian Price. The explosive Valtellini has stated he isn't looking for quantity, but rather quality when it comes to selecting his fights which is why he doesn't compete as much as he would like.
*After losing to Kaoklai at the Elite Challengers event Cyrus Washington drops out of the rankings.
* Michael Mananquil drops out of the rankings due to inactivity. Despite not hitting the 6 month mark until August 12th Mananquil has no scheduled fights.
* Steven Banks drops out of the rankings for inactivity. He last competed in December of 2010 and is currently in the process of dropping from super heavyweight to heavyweight.
*Shawn Yarborough falls from the rankings after a controversial split decision win against Chris Romulo and being stripped of his WBC Muay Thai light heavyweight national title.
Rankings qualification - Fighters born in North America are eligible. North America will include fighters from the United States, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean. Rankings are based on P4P. Fighters are not to be inactive for any period longer than 6 months or they will be dropped from the rankings unless a fight is schedule within a month from the date they become ineligible.
