Push Kick Promotions has announced that Rami Ibrahim will no longer be fighting Lerdsila Chumpairtour; replacing Ibrahim will be Canada’s Matt Embree. Ibrahim has withdrawn from the bout because the fight will fall on Ramadan, and Ibrahim being Muslim has decided it is in his best interest to not take the fight during Ramadan.
“Ramadan is a very spiritual month for me and I go through some tough times of not eating or drinking anything from sun up to sun down. To add to that, every year Ramadan is 2 weeks earlier because Muslims follow the lunar calendar. Meaning nothing can go down my system till approximately 9pm” said Ibrahim. “This fight is a great fight for me but I didn't want to take a fight of that magnitude under these conditions. If Push Kick promotions would like to put me on their next promotion, I would gladly except it, and if my opponent wants to take that fight with me in the future, I'm all game for it. I just hope everyone can understand and respect my decision and beliefs.”
Embree is one of the top fighters in North America, most recently defeating Nils Widlund at Lion Fight Muay Thai VI. Embree has been on a roll as of late, winning the Journey Fight Series 140lb tournament in late 2011 as well as his last two fights under the Lion Fight Promotions banner. Lerdsila should prove to be a good test for the young Canadian.
Current Fight Card:
Aikpracha Meenayotin vs. Ky Hollenbeck
Rung Reung Chai vs. Michael Mananquil
Lerdsila Chumpairtour vs. Matt Embree
Neungsiam Samphusri vs. Ognjen Topic
