Yodsanklai Fairtex talks upcoming bout against Kem Sitsongpeenong

Yodsanklai Fairtex has some big fights coming up. In January he will be fighting at Lion Fight 8 on AXS TV in Las Vegas, but before he makes his American debut he will be facing former teammate Kem Sitsongpeenong at Muay Thai Combat Mania in Pattaya, Thailand. Yodsanklai was kind enough to answer a few questions for us about his upcoming fight against Kem. He talks about fighting a former teammate and his fight future.

MTA: Big fight against former teammate Kem, how do you feel about fighting a former teammate?

Yodsanklai: No problem for me to fight a former team mate.

MTA: How important is it for you and your camp that you come out victorious in this fight?

Yodsanklai: I like to win so I am planning to win this this fight. I know the camp would be very happy for me to win.

MTA: How different of a fighter do you expect Kem to be from when you trained with him in the past?

Yodsanklai: I think he is a much better and bigger fighter now than before.

MTA: The fight will have same day weigh-ins, do you think that will affect you at all?

Yodsanklai: I am sure it will have an effect on me as I have to weigh 71 KG's the morning of the fight. I have not weighed 71kg's in 3.5 years and now my daily weight is around 77kg's to 78kg's. But I am ready for this fight, let's hope I can make the weight.

MTA: With a lot of the international Thai fighters no really fighting the other big international Thai Fighters many people are looking at this fight with special interest. Is there any reason for a lot of the big Thai names not fighting against each other or other Thai fighters in general?

Yodsanklai: As we get older we get bigger and there are not many big Thais to fight. Also, a Thai Muay Thai fighter is at his prime 18 to 22 and 23 we are considered to be getting old.

MTA: Can we get your prediction for this fight?

Yodsanklai: I win!!

MTA: You have been fighting for quite some time now Yod, how much longer do you plan on continuing to fight?

Yodsanklai: I think 1 to 2 years and then I am finished. Hope to start my own camp.

MTA: What do you have planned for 2013?

Yodsanklai: As of now I have January and March booked for fights. I am very happy I will be fighting in America.
