Ky Hollenbeck talks upcoming fight against Jordan Watson at the MPL's "Strength and Honour" event in Italy

On October 8th Ky Hollenbeck will face Jordan Watson in Padova, Italy as part of the MPL's "Strength and Honour" event. Hollenbeck is the only American in the tournament and will look to carry his countries as he tries to beat stable of world class competition. Ky took some time from his busy training to answer a few questions for Muay Thai Authority about the upcoming fight with Jordan.

MTA: You are fighting on the Muaythai Premier League's "Strength and Honour" on October 8th in Italy, you are facing Jordan Watson. How much do you know about Jordan?

Ky: I don't know much about Jordan other than he has fought some really tough guys and earned a rep as a solid fighter himself.

MTA: Jordan is a very experienced fighter and has fought some big names such as Buakaw and Yodsanklai. Do you feel he will be your toughest fight to date?

Ky: It's really hard to say if Jordan will be my toughest fight to date. I never really know what to expect of anyone until we're face to face in the ring. I know that styles make fights so it will be interesting to see how well I can figure out a game plan for Jordan's style.

MTA: Where do you feel you will have an advantage in the fight with Jordan?

Ky: I think my edge usually is the pace that I can keep in the fight. If I can out pace them I can beat a lot of top level fighters.

MTA: You will be carrying the American flag on your shoulders in this tournament, knowing that you are one of a few Muay Thai fighters to grace the MPL is there any added pressure?

Ky: the pressure really doesn't get to me so much anymore. I love that I get to rep the USA in the MPL and I'm gonna fight my ass off to do everyone back home proud. I always try to keep the idea in my head that every fight boils down to two guys in the ring, things like the promotion, the venue, and the prize your fighting for might change, but it always is decided the same way, with two guys in a ring so there is no point in putting extra pressure on myself

MTA: Can you give us a prediction for your fight with Jordan?

Ky: The fight is gonna be a good one. Should be another exciting fight and I plan on coming out on top.

MTA: The bracket doesn't get any easier, after Jordan you will have to face Nieky Holzken and Marco Pique. Psychologically knowing that you are facing three world class fighters does it motivate you more to train or is it just another fight for you?

Ky: You gotta train as hard as you can for every fight, but seeing the level of skill that the guys in my bracket have it definitely makes me excited and drives me to push even harder.

MTA: In your last fight against Simon Chu you won a unanimous decision, but you were cut pretty bad in that fight. It seemed to be your toughest fight that most people have seen. Do you think opponents will be looking at that fight to see how they can beat you?

Ky: If they do it's a mistake. That fight was tough for me, but one thing I do well is learn from my mistakes. I made a bunch of them in that fight and I paid for them, so I've been working hard to ensure that I don't repeat those same mistakes.

MTA: What did you take away from the fight with Chu as far as experience goes?

Ky: I gained a lot from that fight. Having a war like that is a great way to see how you will react when the chips are down. I feel like I grew as a fighter in that fight, and now I'm moving into new levels on my training.

MTA: This next fight will be in Italy so it will probably be hard for your friends and family to get out there and support, any parting words for them?

Ky: Keep me in your thoughts and know that I will be giving it everything I have over there for my family, my fans, and my country.
