Luis Bio talks upcoming fight with Kenny Finister

Luis Bio will be facing Kenny Finister on September 24th at the WCK Muay Thai event at Pala Casino. Bio, the WBC Muay Thai Mexican national champion took some time from his busy schedule to answer some questions for Muay Thai Authority about his upcoming fight.

MTA: You are fighting Kenny Finister on September 24th under the WCK banner, how much do you know of him as a fighter?

Luis: Don’t know much about him, I’ve only seen him fight once (against Joe Davidson)…he looked strong.

MTA: You live in Ensenada, Mexico but train in San Diego on the weekend with Caine Gayle, how is your training going?

Luis: Training has been going very good actually. I’m still commuting to the US on the weekends to train with Caine, Ron, Glenn, Alex and Dennis plus my usual workout routine in Mexico. We’ve also made some adjustments to my Strength & Conditioning program and I feel great!

MTA: From what you have seen of Finister is there any area you feel he might possess some advantages?

Luis: If you allow me to define Advantages as Strengths I would say that he’s an aggressive fighter that likes to stay busy in the ring. He will also probably be on the heavier side since my natural fight weight is 154 lbs. I struggle to make 160lbs.

MTA: Where do you feel you will possess an advantage in your fight with Finister?

Luis: I have a really good team of trainers that cover all aspects of the game. Plus, I have more ring experience than he does. I’ve been fighting and training internationally since the beginning allowing me to see different styles and tricks.

MTA: This is going to be your first fight of the year, why the inactivity?

Luis: 2010 was a very busy year for me and needed some time to adjust my training. I feel so much stronger and hungrier than ever.

MTA: Are you worried you might have some ring rust since last competing in December and do you expect Finister to have ring rust since he hasn't competed in over a year?

Luis: I don’t worry too much about it since I should be able to shake it off in the first round; most fighters would have some ring rust after a year of inactivity but I feel ready for this fight.

MTA:
What is your prediction for this fight?

Luis: Honestly, I don’t like to make predictions as anything can happen in the ring… but my manager Dennis says I’ll win by 3rd round KO. What do you think about that?

MTA: What else is on your agenda for the year, do you have any other fights lined up?

Luis: There might be something for me in October and December; it’s still in the works. There seems to be so many more promotions in the US this year than in the past. I am definitely interested in fighting more so I hope the promoters call. I’ll be dropping down to the stacked weight class of 154 lbs so I am excited.

MTA: Is there anyone in particular you would like to fight?

Luis: I’m looking forward to earn a shot for a WBC International Belt sometime next year.
