Results and Recap: Take-On Productions "Muay Thai at the Mecca"

Take-On Productions “Muay Thai at the Mecca” took place yesterday in New York. The night’s main event featured a bout between Ryan Madigan and Rigel Balsamico. The fight didn’t make it out of the first round as Madigan used flurries with his hands to back up Balsamico, whose only offense was to throw kicks as he backed up. Madigan scored two standing eight counts in the first round eventually winning the fight by (T)KO due to punches.

In the night’s co-main event Brian Collette and Marcus Taylor came out swinging. Taylor came out aggressive throwing spinning punches and kicks, but Collette remained calm and connected with a fight ending cross. The action did not stop there, however, Taylor was being heckled by some audience members and he went after them as he was leaving. Security was able to intervene and keep anything serious from happening.

Veteran Sean Hinds and DeShawn Robinson went toe-to-toe for three rounds. Hinds looked good in the clinch as he repeatedly landed knees, but Robinson was able to sweep Hinds several times late in the fight. Robinson used his hand speed to land some nice combinations on Hinds, while Hinds counter was to land solid kicks. Hinds was able to score a standing eight count in the fight, but in the end the fight was declared a Majority Draw.

Anthony Demaio came out aggressive in his fight against Eric Ruiz, but Ruiz was able to land knees effectively from the clinch. As the fight went on Ruiz continued to pick up the intensity and took home a unanimous decision on the judges score cards.

In the night’s opening pro bout Brett Hlavacek made quick work of Chris Clodfelter. Hlavacek landed a knee which he followed up with a fight ending kick to the head. With the win Hlavacek now improves his pro record to 4-0.
