Jason Andrada talks upcoming fight with Anthony Castrejon

Jason Andrada will be fighting Anthony Castrejon at Lion Fight Promotions inaugural event on Feb. 12 at Buffalo Bill's Casino in Primm, NV. Jason was gracious enough to answer a few questions for Muay Thai Authority about his upcoming fight with Anthony.

MTA: You have an upcoming fight on Feb. 12th with Anthony Castejron at Lion Fight Promotions Battle in the Desert, how has your training for the fight been going?

Jason: Training has been going great. I have a few trainers helping me with padwork, game plans, and conditioning (something my previous fights has been lacking). Not all but a lot of my fights I haven't been getting the necessary training so it will be exciting to see the difference for this fight.

MTA: Anything Anthony brings to this fight that you feel could present problems for you?

Jason: Anthony is known for his incredibly fast high kicks and his ring movement is pretty solid. I don't doubt his skills in the ring, he is a very smart active fighter but I'm not preparing for a walk in the park either.

MTA: Can you give us a prediction for the fight with Anthony?

Jason: My only prediction is that it will be worth the wait.

MTA: What are you Muay Thai plans for 2011?

Jason: I plan on turning pro before the summer either after this fight or get 1 or 2 more before I make the switch. I'm pretty much down for whatever. I just want to fight who I'm put in the ring with.

MTA: As an amateur fighter, how do you know when it is time to go pro?

Jason: I feel as soon as I felt comfortable in the ring. When I can think and act at the same time, and when it stops becoming all a blur and I can remember what the heck happened ha ha, but everyone is different.

MTA: Amateur fighters are not allowed to throw elbows in most places, what are you thoughts on that rule? Is it something you would like to see changed?

Jason: I think it really depends on what class of amateur, if it's a person's first or second fight then elbows really aren't necessary but if you're an amateur ready to turn pro then I think more places should accept it into their rule books so those fighters get used to throwing elbows.

MTA: You're a Muay Thai guy, are you tempted to go over to the MMA realm since there is more money over there?

Jason: Actually I want to test myself in boxing. I really don't have any interest in MMA since I'm not much of a ground guy. plus at my weight class (125) there aren't really many opponents in the U.S. for Muay Thai or MMA. Boxing I plan to fight at 118 which in the pro level I should be fighting anyway.
