Kevin Ross - Thailand Blog Part 2

By Kevin Ross
Week two is down. It’s been nice to be here training and not have to stress about getting ready for a fight, for once. Still training hard twice a day but not killing myself like I usually would be.

Chaz ended up fighting last week at MBK, he was supposed to be fighting this Thursday. Pii A comes in that morning after we finished training and asks if he wants to fight that night because next week they might not have anyone for him, he says of course. We just relax till about 3 and then head to Bangkok. At first they told him he was going to be the third fight but right before the event started they told him he was going to be the main event. We ran into Master Toddy who had a booth there and was also announcing the fights, that was uncomfortable! The guy Chaz was fighting was from Germany, didn’t really know anything about him. Most of the fights on the card were pretty good, think there were two girl fights.

Finally Chaz was up, gave him the usual pre fight speech and he jumped in the ring. Started out at a good pace and he was landing some good hard leg kicks, a Sitmonchai signature. Chaz has always been good at leg kicking but you could see the improvement even in the short time that we have been here. Going into the second I knew he would be able to take the guy out. Just told him to stay focused, keep doing what he was doing and not to force it. He ended up splitting the guy above his eye with an elbow, dropping him with leg kicks once and then after he got up Chaz unloaded on him and the ref was forced to stop it.

Ended up staying the night in Bangkok cause I had the press conference for Clifton’s tournament the next day. Headed to the press conference around 12 the next day. It was pretty crazy sitting there next to Saenchai, Yodsanklai, Kaokolai and Dzhabar, felt like I was dreaming. So another week down, just gonna get in as much as I can over the next few days. Going to that huge show at Lumpinee on Friday, should be pretty crazy, then heading home early Sunday morning.
