Summer has started and lets just say it is going to be a busy one for Muay Thai fans. There is so much Muay Thai action going on that you could say there is too much of it. Just to keep everyone up to date on what is going in the North American Muay Thai scene we are going to go through the upcoming events just so you know whats coming up and you could set your schedules to work around the onslaught of Muay Thai that will be available. The events are listed in order by date and only events taking place in North America are listed.
Friday Night Fights "Rumble in the Summer" - June 10th in New York, NY
New York Muay Thai action will be in full swing as Chris Kwiatkowski and Robert Blake meet in the nights main event. Also on the card former UFC fighter Phillipe Nover returns to action against Anthony Ford after over a year off from Combat Sports and Liam Tarrant returns to action after a six month hiatus against Michael Dougherty.
Journey Fight Series 3 - June 11th in Calgary, Alberta, Canada
The 140lb tournament continues as the semi-finals will feature Coke Chunhawat vs. Matt Embree in a re-match of their extremely close 2010 September fight with the winner earning their spot in the finals. Josh Palmer and Justin Greskiewicz will also meet to fill the other finals slot in what is expected to be a high paced action packed fight. Also on the card Marcus Fisher will fight Sean McKinnon, and the ladies will be in action as well as Jessica Gladstone meets Meryem Uslu.
IFS "Mass Destruction" - June 18th in Pico Rivera, CA
Although there will only be one pro Muay Thai fight, this event will feature a slew of amateur Muay Thai bouts as well as the second round of their amateur Muay Thai tournament. In the only pro bout Miguel Cosio will take on MMA fighter Ben Jones.
Take-On Productions "Battle at the Beacon" - July 8th in New York, NY
Take-On Productions will be moving their event to the Beacon Theatre and have quite a card set up for the fans. In the main event Rami Ibrahim will be taking on Thanit Watthanaya for the WKA 132lb North American Title. Also on the card Omar Ahmed will see his first action of 2011 when he takes on Jake Mainini, and Sean Hinds and Douglas Edwars are expected to meet in a re-match, while Eddie Martinez and Turan Hasanov look to settle things in a rubber match after splitting a pair of fights while they were both amateurs.
Stand Up Promotions "Oblonsky vs. Krause" - July 9th in Commerce, CA
Shane Oblonsky will defend his super welterweight MTAA title against Bryce Krause. The fight will mark the return of Krause after having taken a year and a half off to heal an injury. Also on the card surging Jose Palacios takes on Artem Sharoshkin in a crucial welterweight fight. Texas fighter Borzoo Honargohar will be returning to California to take on Sheldon Gaines in what is likely going to be a fire fight.
Push Kick Promotions "World Stand Off" - July 16th in Pomona, CA
The Pomonar Fairplex will play host to Push Kick Promotions "World Stand Off" which will feature a team Thailand vs. the world theme. Some notable Americans fighting on the card are Ky Hollenbeck, Baxter Humby, and William Sriyapai. The main event will feature Lersila "Mr. Lighting" as he takes on Brazilian phenom Sheymon Da Silva Moraes.
Friday Night Fights - July 22nd in New York, NY
Friday Night Fights be back in action July 22nd with a main event that will feature young gun Alex Berrios against seasoned vet Rigel Balsamico. Currently no other fights have been confirmed for the event.
The Warriors Cup XII - July 23rd in Lincroft, NJ
Full rules Muay Thai comes to New Jersey for the first time and promoter Chris Tran made sure it was packing a punch. Making his American debut will be world ranked Liam Harrison from the U.K. as he takes on Justin Greskiewicz. Also on the card will be a fight between Rami Ibrahim and Mark DeLuca, as well as Ognjen Topic vs. Tony Manoharan and Marcus Fisher vs. Brett Hlavacek.
Stand Up Promotions "World Class Championship Muay Thai" - August 13th in Anaheim, CA
This is one of the dates most Muay Thai fans have saved on their calendars. Saenchai vs. Kevin Ross will be taking place at the Anaheim Convention Center in California. The event will also feature several other world class Muay Thai fighers such as Kaoklai Kaennorsing vs. Simon Marcus, Rungravee Sasiprapa vs. Kunitaka Fujiwara, Kompetchlek Lookprabaht vs. F-16 Rachanont, Coke Chunhawat vs. Tetsuya Yamato, and Shane Oblonsky vs. Artem Sharoshkin.
Lion Fight Promotions - August 20th in Primm, NV
Currently no fights have been confirmed for this event but based off of their first two events you can expect Lion Fight Promotions to deliver another high quality fight card that will be stacked from top to bottom.
Muaythai Premier League - September 2nd in Los Angeles, CA
The Muaythai Premier League made a splash by signing some of the world best Muay Thai talent. They will be looking to make an impact at their first event in Los Angeles when Muay Thai super star Buakaw and Dzhabar Askerov meet in a re-match of their 2007 K-1 fight. Currently no other fights have been confirmed but with the talent they signed its hard not to imagine an endless possibility of exciting fights.There you have it, a list off all notable events taking place from now until Labor Day weekend. Make sure you plan accordingly because there are a lot of good fights you don't want to miss.
