The Weekend Rundown: Harrison, Ibrahim, Berrios and Kaoklai all win

There were multiple Muay Thai events this weekend so that means it's time for the weekend rundown. Three events of interest took place this weekend. The Warriors Cup XII, Friday Night Fights "8-to-1" and Elite Boxing's Thailand vs. Challengers all had some exciting fights so in case you missed any of the action you can catch up.

Friday Night Fights "8-to-1"
The night's main event featured Alex Berrios of Tampa Muay Thai taking on Rigel Balsamico of Cool Hearts Muay Thai. It didn't take long before Berrios began to pick apart Balsamico who seemed to have his head somewhere else. In the third round a barrage of knees to the body by Berrios forced Balsamico to turn and try and flee but the referee stepped in and gave him a count, but before it was over Balsamico indicated he wanted no more.

The night's other attraction was the one night eight man tournament which featured an all Canadian finals as Josh Fitzsimmons and Troy Sheridan clashed in a very exciting fight. As with most of the tournament match-ups the pace was fast and furious with Fitzsimmons gaining the upper hand in the first round. Sheridan rallied back in the second setting the tone for the deciding third round, but their would be no need for the judges scorecards as a short right hook from Fitzsimmons ended the night for Sheridan early in the round.

The Warriors Cup XII
The first full rules event held in New Jersey featured world ranked Liam Harrison from the U.K. taking on American Justin Greskiewicz in the main event. The bout was for the WBC Muay Thai welterweight international title and from the beginning it was clearly visible as to why Harrison was the heavy favorite. Harrison punished Greskiewicz with leg kicks and it seemed the American no answer for the speed and timing of Harrison. As the second round was coming to a close Greskiewicz came in with a flying knee, but was met with a counter left hook from Harrison that sent him to the canvas. Greskiewicz tried to make it to his corner, but couldn't and the fight was called by the referee.

Rami Ibrahim and Mark DeLuca served as the main event in a fight that went the distance in favor of Ibrahim. Implementing some solid leg kicks Ibrahim was able to break down DeLuca, but despite the damaged absorbed DeLuca continued to press the action. In the end it was clear that Ibrahim had done enough to take the decision on the judges cards.
