Jay Matias is ready to make is professional debut on October 22nd when he takes on Jake Mainini at Take-On Productions "Battle at Bally's" in Atlantic City, NJ. The Sitan Gym fighter plans to make an impression in his debut and recently took some time out of his preparation to answer a few questions about the fight with Muay Thai Authority.
Jay: I've Seen Jake fight one of our guys from Sitan Gym Philadelphia around 2009. It helped to watch, just to look at his style.
MTA: How has your training for this fight been going and have things changed since it is your pro debut and it is under full rules?
Jay: My Training is intense, I always keep a high standard as far as being/getting into shape. The training is different so I would say it did change, then again my training always changes for every fight. Change is good, that way I don't get too comfortable. As far as full Thai rules are concerned I'm no stranger to elbows I've competed in the IFMA's in 2007 and using elbows and not using elbows is like and on and off switch for me.
MTA: How do you feel about making your pro debut, is it something you have been looking forward to?
Jay: Definitely, it's great that I'm pro now, I'm extremely passionate about what I do and knowing that I'm on that next level to be classified as a Pro makes it even better.
MTA: Where do you think you will hold the biggest advantage in this fight?
Jay: My advantage is that when my opponent starts pounding me in an attempt to knock my head off, they may think that they got me but that's where they're wrong. Tired or not I'm coming for you. It happened in many of my fights.
MTA: Is there anything you are worried Jake brings to the fight that can cause trouble for you?
Jay: I don't look at it that way, We both have 2 arms 2 legs and a Brain. So we are both capable of anything.
MTA: What is your prediction for the fight?
Jay: For my fights I usually go with the flow no predictions. I take it as it comes.
MTA: Any words for your supporters?
Jay: Yes Shout out to my Sitan Family NY, Philly, and Arizona. My people in Dominican Republic, Bay ridge, Corona & Florida they have always been supporting since day 1 and I def cant forget my parents & brothers. Also my Brother from another Mother, Aziz whom is my trainer.
