UK fighter and Muay Thai Authority contributor, Damien Trainor, will be back in action on November 12th. Trainor just announced today that he will be fighting at Krush 13 in Tokyo, Japan against 121lb (55kg) Krush champion Shota Takiya. The fight will take place under K-1 rules and although Trainor wont be able to use elbows or clinch he is looking forward to adapting his game to the K-1 style.
Takiya became the Krush champion earlier this year when he knocked out Ryuya Kusakabe with a front kick to the face. Trainor was scheduled to fight earlier this year against American Romie Adanza at Lion Fight Promotions "Battle in the Desert 3", but an injury to Adanza scrapped the bout. Trainor did face wrecking machine Rungravee Sasiprapa earlier in the year going toe-to-toe with him and making Rungravee work for his win on the judges cards. Trainor posted the following on his website www.DamienTrainor.com about the fight.
"This fight will actually be under K-1 rules and not my usual Muay Thai, which I’m used to fighting. I’m actually a little excited in fighting under these rules as I think my style can adapt quite well. For those who don’t know what differences there are: you cannot clinch or use elbows, there are only three rounds, if the fight is declared a draw you will fight an extra round and if that round is a draw then again you will fight another round. Potentially you could end up doing a full five rounds."
