Ken "The Hitman" Tran will be making his second appearance for Lion Fight Promotions on November 19th when he takes on Chidi Njokuani. Lion Fight Promotions "Battle in the Desert 4" will be taking place in Las Vegas and it is a perfect fit for Tran, not only does he come to fight, but he is quite the showman in the ring. Tran took some time to talk to Muay Thai Authority about the upcoming fight.
MTA: You have an upcoming fight against Chidi Njokuani, how familiar are you with him as a fighter?
Ken: The name Njokuani comes to mind right away once I heard I was fighting Chidi. I'm a big fan of the UFC and have watched his brother fight a few times and man he has awesome Muay Thai for mma. I have done some research on Chidi online. He is the real deal with a world class ranking and I once again have my hands full for this fight.
MTA: Your last fight out you fought Chaz Mulkey in an exciting fight, how is this fight going to differ from your last fight?
Ken: I learned a lot with the fight against Chaz, he is very very tough guy and I have never fought someone that good that had the ability to use the lengthy limbs so well. His clinch game was extremely strong. Now Chidi is even taller then Chaz with longer reach and legs so it has helped me and my team to strategize a game plan according to what I had to deal with last fight.
MTA: You are known for finishing your fights, is that your game plan coming in, to finish the fight or you do just fight your fight and if it happens it's an added bonus?
Ken: I go into every fight to finish. I am not a point fighter at all. I would rather gas out during the fight throwing punches and kicks with everything behind them trying to finish the fight then to leave a fight in the judges hands.
MTA: Some of Chidi's fights are online, do you study video or do you see studying video as something important when it comes to training for a fight?
Ken: I have seen all the videos I could find on Chidi. I try to study every opponent to prepare and get comfortable with what I'm up against for every fight. I become obsessive when I know what my opponent looks like. I visualize everyday, every training session, every run of what might transpire throughout the fight and steps I could take to make it go in my favor.
MTA: What is your prediction for the fight with Chidi?
Ken: I don't like to make predictions for fights. I come to put on a show for the crowd and the promoters. I always come to win but win lose or draw I take pride on giving people great entertainment value!
MTA: Later this year you are going to be representing Team Canada against Team China in Vancouver, what are your thoughts on that? You nervous you were picked to represent your country?
Ken: I am very happy to be representing my country again. I have had the privilege to represent Canada and fight against China's team here in Canada and in China on three separate occasions already. I have won twice and lost the other to a close decision to Cao Yaomin earlier this year. I have experience with the Chinese opponents already so it takes the nerves away because I know what to expect.
MTA: Your an entertaining fighter and we look forward to seeing you in Las Vegas. Any words for your supporters or fight fans?
Ken: Thank you very much Nathan for the positive feedback and I just want to give a huge thanks to everyone that supports me! Thanks to Lion fight promotions for putting on world class events and letting me be a part of it. Lastly I would like to thank my sponsors Reflex coquitlam, Tapout Canada, and Extreme fight shop
