The Warriors Cup XVI (@WarriorsCup) will be taking place on November 3rd
in Rahway, New Jersey. The night’s main event is
expected to feature a WBC Super Middleweight National Title Fight between
undefeated Brett Hlavacek (@BrettxThreat) and veteran Stephen Richards.
Hlavacek has run his record to 6-0 since turning pro. The
Kru Phil Nurse (@KruPhilNurse) trained fighter most recently defeated Harry Baker over in England. A win
over a seasoned veteran such as Richards would not only solidify Hlavacek as
one of North America’s best super
middleweight, but it will add to his already soaring stock.
Richards last competed in October of 2011 at Bangkok Fight
Night 11 when he fought to a controversial draw with Cyrus Washington (@BlackDynamiteMT). The WBC
Super Middleweight National Title was on the line that night, but neither man
was able to walk away with it. Richards now gets a second chance against
Hlavacek to take home the green strap and as he has shown in previous fights,
you can never count him out. In 2010 he defeated Shawn Yarborough by decision,
midway through the bout Yarborough broke Richards arm with a kick but despite
the injury Richards fought to the final bell.
It should prove to be an entertaining bout between a young
up and coming fighter and an established and respected veteran. Currently no
other bouts are announced for The Warriors Cup XVI.
