K-1 Rising took place in Madrid, Spain this past weekend. Fans of Kickboxing were excited to see the return of K-1 and it did not disappoint. The event featured the K-1 Max Final 16 as well as some big heavyweight names in action.
In the Max tournament Andy Ristie, Chris Nigimbi, Reese McCallister and Andy Souwer all moved on to the Final 8 with decision wins. Ristie defeated Gago Drago by unanimous decision, McCallister defeated Longern Superpro Samui by unanimous decision, McCallister defeated Yuji Nashiro by unanimous decision and Souwer defeated Abraham Roqueni by split decision.
Mike Zambidis, Yasuhiro Kido, Murthel Groenhart and Artur Kyshenko all scored stoppage victories to advance in the tournament. Zambidis used a left hook to eliminate Chahid Oulad El Hadj, Kido connected with a spinning backfist to KO Xu Yan, Groenhart used a flurry of punches to stop Harut Grigorian and Artur Kyshenko landed a vicious left hook to bounce Su Hwan Lee for the tournament.
