Jongsanan "The Woodenman" Muay Thai seminar at Tampa Muay Thai

Tampa Muay Thai will be hosting a seminar with Muay Thai legend Jongsanan “The Woodenman” Fairtex. The seminar will take place on March 24, 2012 at Tampa Muay Thai in Tampa, FL. Pre-registration for the seminar is $75 before March 17th and $85 after.

For those not familiar with Jongsanan he is 5x world Muay Thai champion, a 2x Lumpinee Stadium champion and a Rajadamnern Stadium champion. He is also very recognized for his eight extremely entertaining fights with Muay Thai legend Sakmongkol. Jongsanan is currently located in California and anyone interested in Muay Thai that is near the Tampa area should not miss this opportunity. Jongsanan is a legend of the sport and Muay Thai practitioners of all skill levels would benefit from attending this seminar.

Alex Berrios talks about his upcoming fight with Travis Lerchen at the Friday Night Fights season opener

Alex Berrios will be taking on Travis Lerchen on January 20th in New York at Friday Night Fights Muay Thai season opener. The Tampa Muay Thai fighter will be taking on Travis Lerchen in the night’s main event. Berrios is a highly skilled technical fighter and will be looking to rebound from his loss to Joseph Valtellini this past September. Muay Thai Authority caught up with Berrios, who was kind enough to answer a few questions about his upcoming fight.

MTA: You were supposed to fight Ben Case in the first full rules event in NY, but things got switched around and now you are fighting Travis Lerchen and it isn't full rules. What were your thoughts regarding the opponent change and not fighting full rules now?

Alex: It was kind of disappointing to switch away from full rules, but not a big deal. Nor was the opponent change a big deal. The bigger concern was the weight change, but lucky for me, that wasn't a problem. Now instead of feeding for weight loss/performance, I can focus my nutrition purely on training/fight performance. Different approaches. I will ask Justin, to keep me in mind for that debut of full rules in his event.

Keys to Victory: Alex Berrios vs. Joseph Valtellini

Friday Night Fights will hold its second of back-to-back events on Friday September 23rd. The event will feature a bout between the number nine (Alex Berrios) and ten (Joseph Valtellini) ranked fighters on Muay Thai Authority's North American rankings. The winner of the bout can easily claim to be the top 165-175 lb fighter on the east coast. The bout should prove to be very exciting as it is an interesting style match-up between the very explosive Joseph Valtellini and the very technical Alex Berrios. Both fighters will have to exploit any advantage they can find in order to be victorious and each fighter will have their keys to victory.

Valtellini vs. Berrios: Collision Course

Muay Thai in North America continues to grow and there are a variety of talented fighters that will help put North America on the international map. Two of those fighters happen to be on a collision course with one another. Canada's Joseph Valtellini and Florida's Alex Berrios will stand across the ring from one another at Friday Night Fights' September 23rd event in New York. Both fighters are highly skilled and their potential is through the roof, but one will be knocked down a peg while the other will continue his rise up the ladder.

Muay Thai Authority has confirmed with Friday Night Fights promoter Justin Blair that a bout between Alex Berrios and Joseph Valtellini will take place on their September 23rd event in New York. 

The match-up between Berrios and Valtellini is an exciting match-up as it features two of North America's top young talents. Both fighters were recently featured in Muay Thai Authority's piece "The future of North American Muay Thai" and both fighters are ranked ninth and tenth respectively in Muay Thai Authority's North American rankings.
