Joe Schilling let it be known that he was not happy that Hollenbeck got an assumed WBC world title shot after pulling out of a fight with Joe on this weekends upcoming Stand Up Promotions event. Joe stated that Hollenbeck didn't want to fight him and questioned how he received the title shot in an interview with Muay Thai Authority.
Ky gave Muay Thai Authority the following statement regarding the comments by Schilling.
"It's all good. Joe's just trying to hype himself up and get some recognition. I get it. I will say this, I never signed a contract for that fight with Joe. I was told it was scraped before I got any type of paperwork. He may have signed something cuz he is in tight with MTAA, but I never got anything from them. I've never ducked a fight in my life. and I agree with Joe about the ranking systems being messed up, but the info Joe is using about the WBC top twenty is from dated information based off their website which they never update. It would be good if the WBCwe're better about keeping up with the changes in the ranks, and as far as putting my self ahead of him I'm not. I fight the fights that are offered to me, that's it. I mean I've already fought and knocked out Jared Lara, but you don't hear me complaining that hes the national champ and I'm not. I think people put to much importance on titles. If your the best and you know it, prove it, and keep proving it until the title shot is undeniable.
Titles shouldn't be what defines you. Its nice to be a champion but its not what Muay Thai is all about. Improving your skills and fighting the best fighter possible, that's what should be every one's main objective. So ya I wish Joe luck and I'm sure he'll do well, and when he finally does get that belt it'll be well deserved. I'm just gonna keep my nose to the grind stone and focus on the next person in front of me."
