It's prediction time again. Lion Fight Promotions "Battle in the Desert 3" will takes place this weekend at Buffalo Bill's Casino in Primm, NV. A night of exciting fights is expected with four WBC Muay Thai title fights on the line. You can't go wrong with a card that includes the likes of Cosmo Alexandre, Sakmongkol, Ky Hollnebeck, Joe Schilling, Jeri Sitzes and Simon Chu. Below are the predictions by Muay Thai Authority, remember if you decide to bet on any of these fights in Primm please do so responsibly.
Cosmo Alexandre vs. Sakmongkol Zingano
This is an interesting match-up pitting a world ranked fighter such as Cosmo against a legend of Muay Thai in Sakmongkol. Cosmo is the type of fighter that fights based off of how his opponents fight. Sakmongkol showed in his recent fight against James Martinez that there is still plenty of steam left in his legs as he brutalized Martinez with kicks in route to a stoppage win. He came out looking to damage his opponent and if he comes out against Cosmo like that we can expect to see Cosmo and Sakmongkol in an exciting bout. However, if Sakmongkol comes out and wants to fight a slow paced fight then Cosmo will do the same. Whether it turns into an exciting fracas or it is a long drawn out affair, Cosmo will likely end up the winner. Yes, Sakmongkol looked good against James Martinez, but Cosmo is by far a more superior fighter than Martinez and his age and speed will play a big factor in the fight.
Result:
Cosmo Alexandre by Unanimous Decision
Ky Hollenbeck vs. Simon Chu
Hollenbeck will be looking to make his first WBC Muay Thai world title defense against the UK's hard hitting Simon Chu. Hollenbeck will need to be careful in this fight because Chu possesses one punch KO power in his hands. Chu is a technical fighter, but as Hollenbeck has shown before his smothering style of fighting in which he remains in his opponents face the entire fight doesn't leave much room for them to implement their technique. Hollenbeck needs to be careful when closing the distance with Chu, because all it takes is a small opening for Chu to land a monster shot and put your lights out. In the end Hollenbeck will likely do enough to stifle Chu's technique by pressing the action the entire fight and turning it into a brawl in close quarters. Hollenbeck's chin should be good enough to hold up against any of Chu's dangerous strikes and the fight will end up in the judges hands.
Result:
Ky Hollenbeck by Unanimous Decision
Chaz Mulkey vs. Remy Bonnel
The stakes have been raised in this re-match as the WBC Muay Thai interim international middleweight title is on the line. Bonnel took the first fight by unanimous decision, although the fight was tightly contested. Mulkey has looked good this year going 3-0, but Bonnel will be the toughest of his three previous opponents. Length will favor Bonnel in this fight, much like the first bout we might see Mulkey try and use the clinch to score (he was able to sweep Bonnel quite a bit the firs time). This will be a close fight and will likely come down to cardio, in the end this will be a grueling five round fight for both fighters. We will likely see the judges score card much like last time, but this time it will be a much closer fight with the potential of going either way.
Result:
Chaz Mulkey by Split Decision
Joe Schilling vs. Brandon Banda
Banda will be looking to gain his first WBC Muay Thai national title, while Schilling will be looking to claim his second. This will probably be the most exciting fight of the night because the word boring and Joe Schilling never mix. From start to finish Schilling comes out looking to end fights. Banda has some decent boxing, but Schilling's game is pretty solid all around and he will come out looking to stop Banda early. As he stated earlier he wants to beat Banda so that Banda never wants to fight him again. Up until now Schilling has been a man of his word and there is no reason to start doubting him. Schilling will start his assault early in the first round and it will likely stretch into the early part of the second round before the referee is forced to stop the fight.
Result:
Joe Schilling by TKO in Rd. 2
Jeri Sitzes vs. Misty Sutherland
There is only one word that can be used to describe Jeri Sitzes and that is "bad". She is one of the baddest women on the planet, however, Misty Sutherland is no slouch. Sutherland's skills are well rounded, but the x-factor in this fight will be Stizes' boxing. Sitzes uses her boxing nicely to set up knees and elbows and that won't change in this fight. This will be a good fight for as long as it lasts, but at some point in the fight Sitzes will use your boxing to land a powerful combination that will hurt Sutherland and Sitzes will move in for the kill using her knees and elbows.
Result:
Jeri Sitzes by TKO in Rd. 3
Anthony Castrejon vs. Ryan Ratcliffe
Castrejon had a rough outing in his pro debut, but was able to get the win. His second pro bout should go a lot smoother. Ratcliffe is no slouch and will go toe-to-toe with Castrejon. If Castrejon is able to implement his boxing he should be able to set up his kicks. It will be a hard fought fight for both fighters, but Castrejon will eventually land with something big that will hurt Ratcliffe and he will pounce and end the fight.
Result:
Anthony Castrejon by TKO in Rd. 3
