"Rumble on the River" - The first free Muay Thai event east of the Rockies

On Thursday August 4th Friday Night Fights will be throwing the first free Muay Thai event east of the Rocky Mountains. The "Rumble on the River" will feature some top amateur talent for fans to sit back and enjoy some Muay Thai action. The event, which takes place on Manhattan’s Pier 84 overlooking the Hudson River, has usually featured boxing, will for the first time feature Muay Thai Boxing. Now is a better time than ever to introduce combat sports fans that are not familiar with Muay Thai to the sport.

The attendance for the previous "Rumble on the River" events has consistently exceeded 3,000 since it began in 2005. The event provides a great opportunity to showcase Muay Thai to an audience this size. As the event is held in conjunction with New York State’s Hudson River Park, it is free to the public and provides fans of the sport the chance to raise awareness of the sport through introducing their friends, family and piers to the sport. The free "Rumble on the River" event not only provides great fun and excitement it provides an educational experience for those who haven't had the opportunity to witness live action.

In a time where talk is cheap and actions speak louder than words, Friday Night Fights has decided to do the latter. Not ones to boast or talk about what they are going to do, they seem to prefer to fly under the radar and then hit you with solid news rather than push propaganda at you and not deliver. "Rumble on the River" will serve as a nice lead-in for the television debut of Friday Night Fights on SNY (SportsNet New York). The promotion recently announced that their Friday Night Fights "8-to-1" event which featured an exciting eight man one night tournament will be airing on SNY during prime time on 8/13, 8/20 and 8/27.

Friday Night Fights is the first Muay Thai promotion to land a spot on prime time. For those not familiar with SNY it is the official TV home of the New York Mets, Jets and the Big East Conference. SNY is available to viewers throughout New York, Connecticut, New Jersey and northeastern Pennsylvania, and nationally on DIRECTV and AT&T U-Verse.
