Friday Night Fights Muay Thai kicked off the first of back-to-back events at the Broad Street Ballroom with their September 16th fight card, which featured five pro fights. The night's main event action was a bout between New York's Chris Kwiatkowski and Canada's Joe Marchand Tipping. Both fighters seemed equally matched in the ring, Kwiatkowski used his hands to do most of his damage, while Tipping used his kicks to score. The fight started off slow as both fighters felt each other out. Kwiatkowski clearly knew his hands were going to be key for him as he scored with them through out the bout, utilizing his reach to land his jab. Tipping was the smaller fighter of the two as he moved up a weight class to face Kwiatkowski, but clearly had no problem mixing it up with Kwiatkowski as he successfully implemented body kicks and leg kicks throughout the fight. In addition to landing his jab Kwiatkowski followed up with body kicks that successfully landed and in the end took home a unanimous decision win.
Marcus Fletcher and Villo Bello met as part of the co-main event. Bello looked to score with jumping knees and kicks early on as Fletcher countered with punches. In the second round a heavy left hook from Bello knocked down Fletcher, after receiving an eight count Feltcher was able to continue, but not for long. Bello attacked with a flurry and two knockdowns later the fight was stopped by the referee. Bello wins with an exciting (T)KO finish.
DJ Jones from North Carolina and Josh Sampo from Nevada faced off in the night's third pro fight. Jones started the action early with a punch and kick combination. After working his way into range Sampo successfully pulled Jones into the clinch where he was able knee Jones at will. In the second round Sampo landed a knee to the head of Jones and scored a knockdown as the ref gave him an eight count. Jones made it out of the second round, but Sampo was looking to capitalize on his knockdown from the previous round. Sampo the aggressor, continued putting the pressure on Jones keeping him pinned up against the ropes. In the end Josh Sampo is declared the winner by unanimous decision.
Harris Norwood and Joe Sampieri started off slow as both fighters measured their distance. The clinch clearly favored Sampieri as he was the stronger fighter when they clinched. In addition to working in the clinch, Sampieri found his mark several times on the lead leg of Norwood as he connected with kicks. Norwood worked to keep his distance, eventually springing forward with punches and catching Sampieri with a straight right that knocked him down, but Sampieri shot right back up. Norwood began to taunt Sampieri, but Sampieri retaliated by catching Norwood's kick and countering with knees and a sweep. In the end all three judges saw the fight in favor of Sampieri 50-45 as he takes home the unanimous decision.
In the night's first pro fight Radu Spinghel looked to welcome Jarrell Miller to the pro ranks. Spinghel started things of early by connecting with knees and punches from the clinch, but once free Miller began to unleash big overhand punches. Spinghel obtained a cut over his eye from one of Miller's heavy strikes and the bout was eventually waived off in the first round by the referee as Spinghel could not see due to the blood getting into his eye from the cut. Miller wins his pro debut by referee stoppage.
