As most are already aware, Lion Fight Muay Thai VI: Schilling vs. Marcus will feature the much anticipated re-match between Joe Schilling and Simon Marcus. The winner of the bout will fight Russian fighter Artem Levin for his WBC Muay Thai light heavyweight world title in Thailand at the Battle for the Belts event in June. Lion Fight Muay Thai VI will take place May 12th at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV the rest of the fight card will be rounded out with some of North America's best fighters.
As previously reported, Nils Widlund has stepped in to replace Kevin Ross against Matt Embree. Embree is coming of a victory over Coke Chunhawat at the last Lion Fight event in February, while Widlund last competed in December when he lost to top Japanese fighter Yuta Kubo.
Tomonori Sato will no longer be fighting Romie Adanza, instead Adanza will now face Thanit Watthanaya in a re-match of their May 2011 fight. Adanza scored a spectacular knockout in the third round to take home the victory. Since their bout Adanza has gone on to defeat the likes of Langsuanlek Sasiprapa and Tomonori Sato, while Watthanaya took some time to recover from a shoulder injury. Their first fight was tightly contested until Adanza landed the knee that ended Watthanaya’s night early.
Also featured on the card will be a WBC Muay Thai national title fight between Malaipet and Philadelphia’s Justin Greskiewicz. Malaipet defeated Jose Palacios on two days notice in November to win the WBC Muay Thai national welterweight title. Greskiewicz is coming off a WBC international challenge bout victory over Bernie Mendieta in the UK.
Also making his return to action after an eight month layoff is Artem Sharoshkin. Scotty Leffler will be ready to welcome Sharoshkin back in to action when the two meet in what is expected to be a fire fight from start to finish. Leffler himself recently returned from a long layoff and won a decision over Sheldon Gaines at Lion Fight’s last event this past February.
Also making her second appearance under the Lion Fight banner will be Tiffany Van Soest of San Diego. Van Soest defeated Vivian Leung at the Lion Fight’s February event and this time around will be taking on Heidi Otterbein.
