Match ups announced for Glory 13 welterweight tournament in Japan


Glory 13 will take place in Tokyo, Japan on December 21st. The event will feature a 4-man welterweight tournament with the top four welterweights in the Glory rankings. Nieky Hozlken, Joseph Valtellini, Marc De Bonte and Karapet Karapetyan will be competing in the tournament. The semi-final match ups will feature Nieky Holzken vs Marc De Bonte and Joseph Valtellini vs. Karapet Karapetyan.

Holzken will be returning to the Glory ring for the first time since Glory 6 where he defeated Karim Ghajji by (T)KO. Holzken will be looking keep his current number one Glory rankings when he faces De Bonte. Known for his technical prowess and knockout ability Holzken has to be the favorite going into the tournament. 

De Bonte is a 23 year old Belgium fighter that will be looking to knock off Holzken in the tournament semi-finals. De Bonte was last in action at Glory 6 when he knocked out L'houcine Ouzgni with a knee a little over a minute into their fight.

Valtellini is Glory's hottest commodity in the welterweight division. He might carry the least amount of experience coming into the tournament, but his three wins under the Glory banner have been nothing but impressive. His most recent win was a (T)KO of Karim Ghajji at Glory 11. The heavy handed Canadian will be looking take the number one spot in the Glory rankings. Valtellini has had his sight's set on that spot since signing with Glory in early 2013.

Karapetyan will be looking to derail the Joseph Valtellini express when he faces the Canadian in the semi-finals of the 4-man tournament. Having gone 2-0 so far under the Glory banner, Karapetyan will look to build upon his most recent win at Glory 10. Karapetyan is known for his technique more than his power will most likely be looking to out point Valtellini.
