Bangkok Fight Night 12 will be taking place on February 17th in Atlanta, GA. The first event of 2012 for the Bangkok Fight Night Promotions will take place at 200 Peach Tree. The night's main event will be a fight between current WBC Muay Thai super welterweight international champion Chike Lindsay and Michael Corley. Lindsay won his title over former champion Malaipet Sasiprapa back in the August. Corley recently appeared on The Challenger Muaythai reality TV show.In the night's co-main event, Enfusion reality TV show competitor Eddie Walker will take on Matt Callehan. Stephen Richards is also expected to fight at Bangkok Fight Night 12, although an opponent is currently unknown. Richards recently fought to a controversial draw against Cyrus Washington at Bangkok Fight Night 11.
Muay Thai Authority has been informed by Bangkok Fight Night promoter Khunpon Dechkampu that Anthony Nieves will face Chris Clodfelter in a re-match at Bangkok Fight Night 11. The event will take place October 22nd at Center State in Atlanta, GA and in addition to Nieves vs. Clodfelter it will feature a main event fight between Cyrus Washington and Stephen Richards. The first fight between Nieves and Clodfelter was ruled a no contest after Nieves connected with an elbow to the back of the head on Clodfelter and he could not continue.
Nieves has not competed in Muay Thai action in over a year. A slew of fights have fallen through for Nieves and he has been moon lighting in boxing and MMA to stay busy. Nieves fights out of Knuckle Up in Douglasville, GA and if there was one word to describe Nieves fight style, violent is the best word to use. He moves forward and looks to take you out with every powerful strike he throws. Never a boring fighter, Nieves not only possesses deadly power, he is also highly technical. His return to Muay Thai action is long over due and he should be ready to put on an exciting fight for the fans.
Chase Green was originally scheduled to face Stephen Richards at Bangkok Fight Night 11, but has been pulled from the fight and replaced with Cyrus Washington. Muay Thai Authority has confirmed with Bangkok Fight Night promoter Khunpon Dechkampu that Richards and Washington will fight in the main event at Bangkok Fight Night 11 which will take place at Center Stage in Altanta, GA on October 22nd.
Washington was set to fight Dave Zuniga in Canada on September 10th, but issues getting into Canada caused Washington to be pulled from the fight. Washington has recently faced some elite competition in Kaoklai and Cosmo Alexandre, but came up short both times. A recent participant on "The Challenger Muay Thai", Washington has stepped into the ring with some elite level fighters and should prove to be a good test for Stephen Richards.
Bangkok Fight Night 11 will take place on October 22nd at Center Stage in Atlanta, GA. Muay Thai Authority has been informed that the main event that night will feature Stephen Richards against Chase Green.
Richards last competed in August of 2010, defeating Shawn Yarborough by unanimous decision. The fight was memorable because midway through the bout Richards had his arm broken after blocking a kick from Yarborough. Despite the broken arm Richards finished the fight strong and left no doubt in the judges mind that he had won the fight. It will be interesting to see if the time off for recovery has affected Richards.
