Lion Fight 12 Results and Recap: Fabio Pinca out points Malaipet

Lion Fight 12 took place tonight at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV. The main event on the night featured Fabio Pinca vs. Malaipet Sasiprapa in a Lion Fight welterweight title fight.

Malaipet was riding a four fight win streak coming into the bout and he looked solid in the first round, he came out aggressive with his punches and kicks in the first round and taunted Pinca quite often. Once the second round started it was a completely different fight, Pinca was the aggressor and he started opening up with his strikes and looked solid in the clinch. The third round was closer but Pinca was still able to out strike Malaipet and control the round. Come the fourth and fifth rounds the fight completely became Pinca’s. He pressed forward as Malaipet backed away, Pinca connected with punches and kicks and when they clinched Pinca out worked Malaipet with knees to the body and the occasional elbow. Malaipet had no answer as Pinca’s strikes continued to land clean. Pinca motioned at Malaipet to meet him the center to no avail, he continued to press the fight and Malaipet continued to back up. In the end it was clear who had won the fight and the judges agreed as well awarding Fabio Pinca the unanimous decision victory.

In the night’s co-main event Tiffany Van Soest completely out classed Magali Foroni. It was evident once the fight started that Foroni was not in the same class as Van Soest. It quickly turned into a one sided affair that looked more like target practice for Van Soest. Foroni offered little to no offense for two plus rounds until her corner threw in the towel midway through the third round. Another dominant performance for Tiffany Van Soest who remains undefeated and improves her record to 8-0-1.

Nick Chasteen made a successful pro debut against Chris Culley. Chasteen attacked Culley’s legs early and it seemed to pay dividends as Cully seemed to stay at bay until he was ready to move in with a flurry. Despite a few strong flurries from Culley, Chasteen remained composed and pressed the action backing Culley into the ropes frequently and landing his strikes. In the end all three judges awarded him a unanimous decision.

Jason Andrada and Mohammed Lemjerdine were involved in an exciting fight. As soon as the fight started Andrada scored a flash knockdown on Lemjerdine, although it seemed like Lemjerdine was more off balance rather than being hurt. In the second round Lemjerdine seemed to take control with his punches and short elbows when in close, but in the third round the tide shifted and it was all Andrada. In the fourth round the momentum continued to shift back and forth as both fighters landed solid strikes. In the fifth and final round it seemed Lemjerdine was in control as he continuously backed Andrada into the ropes. Lemjerdine got a little over aggressive and in a flurry he backed Andrada into the ropes who in return countered with a perfectly timed elbow that sent Lemjerdine crashing to the canvas. It was a stellar knockout by Andrada. With the win Andrada improves to 4-0.

Stephen Richards used some crisp boxing and excellent movement to out point Glen Spencer for five rounds. Spencer was a game opponent, but Richards was just a step quicker throughout the fight. All three judges awarded Richards the fight giving him a unanimous decision win.

In other action Anthony Castrejon scored a first round knockout over Miguel Rosales with a perfectly timed head kick and Miranda Cayabyab defeated Kaiyana Rain by split decision.

Results:
Fabio Pinca def. Malaipet Sasiprapa via Unanimous Decision
Tiffany Van Soest def. Magali Foroni via (T)KO (Corner Stoppage) in Rd. 3
Nick Chasteen def. Chris Culley via Unanimous Decision
Jason Andrada def. Mohammed Lemjerdine via KO (Elbow) in Rd. 5
Stephen Richards def. Glen Spencer via Unanimous Decision
Anthony Castrejon def. Miguel Rosales via KO (Head Kick) in Rd. 1
Miranda Cayabyab def. Kaiyana Rain via Split Decision

Tiffany Van Soest talks upcoming fight with Magali Foroni at Lion Fight 12

Tiffany Van Soest will return to action at Lion Fight 12 on November 1st to take on Magali Foroni. This fight will be her first since scoring a huge stoppage over Lucy Payne this past July at Lion Fight 10. Tiffany has continued to make her presence felt on the women’s Muay Thai scene and is currently the face of women’s Muay Thai in North America. She was kind enough to give us an interview regarding her upcoming fight and talk about her training and future plans.

MTA: You are back in action at Lion Fight 12 in less than two weeks against Magali Foroni. How has your training been going leading up to this fight?

Tiffany: It’s been going really well. I’ve made a few additions and switches to my coaching team and things are working out wonderfully.

MTA: When you started fighting you were balancing school and training, how much easier is it now that you are done with school or have other things like work simply replaced school?

Tiffany: It’s definitely easier, but I still have to work quite a bit to keep the bills paid. I love training my clients and teaching my students, so it’s not so bad.

MTA: How familiar are you with Magali?

Tiffany: To be honest, I’m not very familiar with her at all.

MTA: How much video do you look to study on your opponents, and do you consider it crucial to your fight preparation?

Tiffany: Typically I don’t watch too much film on my opponents. I feel like if I did then I would obsess and focus more on what they do rather than what I’m supposed to do so I leave the film watching up to Kru Alex. My job is to learn and execute the game plan he creates.

MTA: You weren't in action at the last Lion Fight after appearing in their first three shows this year. Did you like getting some R&R or would you have preferred to be in the ring fighting?

Tiffany: There’s nothing wrong with a little R&R, but I definitely would have preferred to be fighting.

MTA: This will most likely be the last fight for you this year, is fighting four times in one year the right amount of fights for you?

Tiffany: Yes. I think so. I train year round to stay sharp, but it’s always nice to have fights to train for. I don’t like to be on the shelf for too long. I tend to get antsy.

MTA: Moving forward with your career which has been very successful already, what are your new goals if any?

Tiffany: My goal is to just keep training and continue to sharpen my skills, learn new ones, and get even better. I want to push myself to be the best I can and continue to test myself against the best. I definitely want to defend my title and if the opportunity arises, travel abroad and fight over seas simply for the experience of fighting abroad. I love to travel.

MTA: We have asked this before, but we have to ask again. How long before the Muay Thai world suffers the casualty of you making the transition over to MMA, or is that something no longer on your mind?

Tiffany: I don’t have a time frame in mind and I’m in no rush. I have made a very comfortable home with Lion Fight Promotions. Muay Thai is my true passion. If the opportunity to take an MMA fight arises and the timing is right, then of course, I’d like to take on that challenge, but I absolutely love Muay Thai and Lion Fight so that will always be my first priority.

Jason Andrada vs. Mohammed Lemjerdine official for Lion Fight 12

Last week we reported that Mohammed Lemjerdine was expected to replace Aber Bouttavong in his fight against Jason Andrada at Lion Fight 12. The news is now official as Lion Fight has announced the change.

For those not familiar with Lemjerdine, he is one the east costs top fighters and will be making his promotional debut for Lion Fight. He holds wins over the likes of Ognjen Topic and Tony Manoharan. Andrada is one of Muay Thai's best prospects, he turned pro at the beginning of 2013 as has posted a 3-0 record since then. Andrada's move forwards style should prove to be an interesting challenge for Lemjerdine who tends to fight a slower more traditional Thai style pace.

Lion Fight 12 takes place November 1st at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and will air live on AXS TV.

Glen Spencer talks upcoming fight with Stephen Richards at Lion Fight 12

Glen Spencer will have the toughest test of his professional career when he faces veteran Stephen Richards at Lion Fight 12 on November 1st. Spencer and Richards have met before but as amateurs, a fight which Richards won by (T)KO. Looking to avenge the loss now that they are both in the pro ranks; Spencer will put up a three fight winning streak on the line when he steps in the ring. Spencer took some time to answer a few questions for Muay Thai Authority about the upcoming fight with Richards.

MTA: Big fight coming up against Stephen Richards, how has training been going for this fight?

Glen: Training has been good it's easier for me to maintain after just coming off a fight. Also there is no room for me to play around and party, got to stay sharp for my upcoming Battle.

MTA: You are coming off a solid win at PKP "World Stand Off 5". Does coming off a win make it easier for your in training in any way?

Glen: Coming off the win is more harder because I haven't had time to celebrate my last win. As soon as the fight was over I had a week off and got right back to the grind.

MTA: You lost to Stephen as an amateur how long has revenge been on your mind?

Glen: The loss to Stephen never left my mind in fact it made me better. I knew what my weakness was and made great changes to correct them. Revenge has always been on my mind in fact this should be titled Revenge of the Fallen!! When I was asked to take the fight I didn't even Blink! Back in 03/04 I wasn't that good in fact it was my 3rd fight I was green but now I have Transformed!

MTA: Stephen is a very technical fighter, where do you think you might hold an advantage over him in this fight?

Glen: My advantage in this fight will be my aggressiveness and moving forward Sityodtong style. Also I'm hungry and it's time for everyone to know who MEGATRON is!!

MTA: Is there any area in particular you feel Stephen might have as an advantage?

Glen: I will most definitely be on the look out for Stephen's boxing skills that's how he beat me before. He's very fast and elusive so I will remain calm when he slips some of my attacks. As long as I keep a good eye on him I think I will do fine.

MTA: Do you try to come with a specific game plan into your fights or just let things develop, and how important do you think game plans are?

Glen: The only game plan I have is to Attack and be explosive.

MTA: Can we get a prediction for this fight?

Glen: The only prediction I have is that it's going to be one hell of a fight. Stephen isn't the WBC champ for no reason. All I can say is may the best man win.

MTA: Any words for your supporters?

Glen: Words for my supporters and Muay Thai fans are be there live and support the sport of Muay Thai in America. Lion Fight is one of the premier platforms for Muay Thai in the US and the world. So come support and watch me MEGATRON TRANSFORM!! If you don't I will hunt you puny humans down!!! Lol. Last but not least I would like to thank all my supports from Sityodtong, Cali, NC, VA that come to Vegas and watch me fight, and I really appreciate those who are in the crowd screaming. Oyyyyyyyy!

Malaipet wants to make Fabio Pinca angry in Lion Fight 12 title fight

Malaipet Sasiprapa and Fabio Pinca will meet for the vacant Lion Fight welterweight title at Lion Fight 12 on November 1st in Las Vegas. In a recent interview with Heidi Fang, Malaipet acknowledges that Pinca is a tough fighter and he expects this fight to come down to "who can play the game". Malaipet Sasiprapa vs. Fabio Pinca and Tiffany Van Soest vs. Magali Foroni set for Lion Fight 12

Lion Fight will return to the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas on November 1st with Lion Fight 12. The night's main event will feature Malaipet Sasiprapa vs. Fabio Pinca for the Lion Fight welterweight title. In the co-main event Tiffany Van Soest will take on Magali Foroni from France.

Malaipet will enter his fight with Pinca on a four fight win streak with his latest victory coming over Caio Uruguai at Lion Fight 11 by first round (T)KO. A few years back Pinca was at the top of the Muay Thai world, but facing some serious competition the last two years has left the French man with mixed results. He is still considered one of the best fighters in his weight class and his losses in that time span have all come to big names such as Giorgio Petrosyan, Kem Sitsonpeenong, Sittichai Sitsongpeenong, and Saiyok Pumpanmuang. He has also recorded wins over the likes of Mosab Amrani, and Saenchai in that time frame.

Van Soest, the current Lion Fight women's featherweight champion will be looking to remain undefeated. Her title will not be on the line against Foroni. In her last outing at Lion Fight 10, Van Soest ran through highly regarded Lucy Payne. With her explosiveness she is a danger to anyone that sets foot in the ring with her. Foroni will look to use her aggressiveness in the ring to derail Van Soest's current rise tot he top. Known for her press forward style it could help her pull off the win or play right into Van Soest's strong counter attacks.

Current Fight Card:
Malaipet Sasiprapa vs. Fabio Pinca
Tiffany Van Soest vs. Magali Foroni
