West Coast fighters speak about Mulkey's comments

So we filled you in on what some fighters who frequently fight in New York thing, now it's time to see what some West Coast fighters think. We received feedback from Kevin Ross and Joe Schilling, two of the potential West Coast team mates of Chaz Mulkey if a tournament against the East Coast takes place.

Kevin Ross -

"Ahahahahahaha, classic :) well I deffinitley agree that there needs to be a east coast/west coast fight and I'll fight any weight you can get me one at. I do think it's bad that they have modified rules fights and still call it Muay Thai. Yes they do gotta work with what they got, but at the same time it's missrepresenting our sport. It's like saying a boxing fight is muay thai without elbows, kicks, knees."

Joe Schilling -

"Grand prix is the way to go 2 east 2 west 2 canadians aye. Lol let's start making some new match ups, let's face it the more fighters the more fights the better we all get and the higher north American Muay Thai level goes.

East coast promoters can hold a tourny to pick there two guys for each divison Canada can do the same and west coast as well then promoters can work together to put on a series of shows based around the grand prix for each divison similar to the super six boxing event on Showtime. Except start a YouTube channel that shows every event and match ups so that each area and fan base gets to see each fighter which will lead to more match ups. At some point we need to get together and get serious about promoting Muay Thai the sport and the fighters nation wide. Let's face it none of us have that much experience with or without elbows and experience is the difference between an amatuer and a world champion. If promoters want to throw me to there wolves you can contact Mark Komuro @ the yard muay thai 213-706-6827."

As with the other fighters that have responded, they too seem to be on board for anything promoters are willing to put together. Ross, seems to agree with with Mulkey's statements about calling it Muay Thai, but understand they are tied by the law. Schilling presents a different idea, by including Canada in the mix. An idea that might be closer than most think.
