October Muay Thai guide

It was the summer of Muay Thai in North America, it seemed there was an event almost every weekend and just as it seemed things were slowing down we hit October. There might not be an event every weekend, but it seems everyone decided to have a Muay Thai event on the same weekend. October 21st and 22nd will play host to five Muay Thai events, from Los Angeles to New Jersey there will be Muay Thai action.

October could easily be called Muay Thai month because off all the action that will be taking place this weekend. Although it is impossible to be at five different events, below is a breakdown of each of the five events taking place this upcoming weekend so that you can at least stay up to date with what is going on. Make sure to check back here at MuayThaiAuthority.com for all the results from this weekends action.

Friday, October 21st:

M-One "Team Thailand vs. Team America" - Los Angeles, California

American's Kevin Ross, Joe Schilling and Romie Adanza will look to shock the world as they carry the American flag into action. The three American fighters will have to dispatch of some top Thai talent as they each try and pull out a win against their Thai opponent.

Kevin Ross will fight Sakkedao Petchpayathai, for those not familiar with Sakkedao he was the last man to beat Saenchai, but like Ross has said many times before he's not Saenchai and neither is Sakkedao. Ross exciting style makes him dangerous in every fight he takes, but Sakkedao's technical prowess is just as dangerous. It will be interesting to if Ross can go in and press the action and get Sakkedao out of his comfort zone and pull out what would be a huge victory.

Joe Schilling and Kaoklai Kaennorsing will meet in a light heavyweight fight that should be as exciting as they come. Schilling comes to finish fights and in the past has backed up every prediction he has made. He has said numerous times he will knockout Kaoklai and if Schilling once again delivers on his promise it will undoubtedly put fighters that are in his weight class world wide on notice.

Romie Adanza will take on Langsuanlek Sasiprapa in what has the potential to be fight of the night. Both fighters bring and exciting style and should entertain the fans whether it last one round or goes the distance. A lot of people might be discrediting Team America right off the bat or labeling them as serious underdogs, but all three Americans have the tools to rise to the occasion and not only perform well against Team Thailand, but win.

In addition to the Team Thailand vs. Team America fights, the always exciting Rungravee Sasiprapa will be in action against Spain's Andres Martinez and Daniel Kim will take on Nate Chambers.

Saturday, October 22nd:

WCK Muay Thai "Wulinfeng Spectacular" - Las Vegas, Nevada
WCK Muay Thai returns with their annual Wulinfeng event. Once again the USA will take on China as they try to avenge last years loss to the Chinese Wulinfeng team in which they were defeated in five of the nine bouts. Returning to represent the USA is Shane Oblonsky, with new faces such as Shawn Yarborougha and Raul Rodriguez joining the mix.

The night's main event will feature a WCK world title fight between K-1 legends Rick Roufus and Mighty Mo and the under card will feature a full rules Muay Thai fight between Lerdsila "Mr. Lightning" and Li Ning.

For those not familiar with Wulinfeng, there are no elbows allowed, limited knees in the clinch and the fights are only three rounds.

Journey Fight Series Finals - Calgary, Canada

The Journey Fights Series 140lb tournament started with eight fighters and the field has now been narrowed down to two. Josh Palmer and Matt Embree will clash in a battle for $10,000 and the first ever WMC North American championship. Both fighters beat some good opposition on their path to the finals, Embree defeated Rami Ibrahim and Coke Chunhawat, while Palmer bested Mark DeLuca then stopped Justin Greskiewicz to claim him spot. With both of these fighters in the ring it should be a very exciting fight.

In addition Mark DeLuca and Nate Smandych will also compete that night as they fight in a re-match. The two previously met as amateurs a few years back with Smandych winning the previous bout. The ladies will also be in action as Jessica Gladstone takes on Celeste Saenz .

Bangkok Fight Night 11 - Atlanta, Georgia
Stephen Richards will return to action from a year long layoff to recover from a broken arm. Richards sustained his injury midway through his fight with Shawn Yarborough, but still went on to win the fight. Ready to welcome Richards back to the ring will be Detroit's Cyrus Washington, having made his name by fighting in Thailand and over sea's, Washington brings a dynamic style to the ring. The fight will be for the vacant WBC Muay Thai super middleweight title.

In addition to Richards vs. Washington, Anthony Nieves and Chris Clodfelter will try to settle some unfinished business. The two met a few years back and the bout was declared a no contest after a Nieves elbow connected to the back of Clodfelter's head and he was unable to continue. Before the first fight ended it was shaping up to be pretty exciting, this second bout should pick up where the last one left off.

Take-On Productions "Battle at Bally's" - Atlantic City, New Jersey
Take-On Productions is moving away from New York for their next event and setting up shop in "The Garden State". Atlantic City will play host to "Battle at Bally's", which if the name doesn't tell you will be taking place at Bally's Casino. The event will be Take-On Productions first full rules Muay Thai event and will feature a main event fight between Justin Greskiewicz and Eddie Martinez.

Greskiewicz recently defeated Turan Hasanov, the last man that Martinez fought, the bout ended in a draw after Martinez rallied back from a knockdown. Both fighters come to fight and the bout should prove to be exciting, if there is one thing that is certain it is that win or lose Greskiewicz comes to put on a show and it is safe safe to say Martinez is willing to do the same. In addition to Greskiewicz vs. Martinez, two young gun's will be making their pro debuts as Jake Mainini and Jay Matias square off.
