Results and Recap: Rumble of the Kings 2011

Rumble of the Kings 2011 took place in Stockholm, Sweden on November 26th. The main event of the evening was the much anticipated bout between Artur Kyshenko and Yodsanklai Fairtex. Kyshenko was the larger fighter of the two, but as always Yodsanklai was game. Kyshenko used his boxing in the opening round to keep Yodsanklai at bay. Kyshenko later connected with some solid left hooks that clearly hurt the Yodsanklai, however, despite being on wobbly legs he was able to not only stay on his feet from the punches, but survive the barrage that followed by Kyshenko.

The second round saw Yodsanklai come back strong as he and Kyshenko exchanged kicks and punches in a back and forth fight. In the third and final round it was clear Yodsanklai was fatigued, Kyshenko started to pull away as the round wore on. Eventually Yodsanklai let his hands down and was simply looking to land a one shot KO that never came. Kyshenko continued to work through the round and in the end took home a unanimous decision victory.

Dzhabar Askerov and Chahid Oulad El Hadj met in another interesting fight; however, despite some good action early on the result would be unsatisfactory. Askerov connected with an accidental shot to the groin and El Hadj went down and stayed down for several minutes. Finally the referee informed him he had to get up, but El Hadj was unable to and the referee began to count. El Hadj was unable to get up and answer the count and Askerov was awarded the victory.

In the Nordic WMC Welterweight Tournament finals Sanny Dahlbeck was able to outpoint Martin Akhtar to take home a decision victory. Both fighters clearly wanted to win the tournament as they held nothing back in the finals and went toe-to-toe, but as the fight wore on it was clear that Akhtar didn't have the stamina that Dahlbeck had and he began to fade. Not only did Dahlbeck win the tournament, but in the semi-finals he scored a highlight reel spinning elbow KO over Pasi Luukanen.
