Results and Recap: Thai Fight 2011 Final

The finals of the Thai Fight 2011 tournaments took place in Thailand last night. In the 147lb (67kg) tournament final, Kem Sitsongpeenong and Fabio Pinca met in what was a re-match from their 2010 fight in France. Pinca pressed the action the entire fight, but Kem had an answer for every strike Pinca threw. Despite Pinca doing a good job, Kem was just a bit faster and more accurate with his strikes. For three rounds Kem edged Pinca out until the final bell. The judges awarded Kem the Thai Fight 2011 welterweight title.

The final of the 154lb (70kg) tournament featured Buakaw Por. Pramuk vs. Frankie Giorgi. In the first round Giorgi came out aggressive and used his hands to successfully score, Buakaw countered with strikes of his own in what was a close round. In the second round Buakaw turned things up as he successfully landed punches, knees, elbows and kicks on Giorgi, who didn't seem to have an answer for
Buakaw's attacks. In the third and final round things played out much like the second, Giorgi tried to press the action, but Buakaw move beautifully around the ring and landed his strikes at will. In the end Buakaw was crowned the Thai Fight 2011 Jr. middleweight champion.
