Lion Fight Promotions “Battle in the Desert 5” fight card has been finalized. As previously reported here on Muay Thai Authority, the night’s main event will feature WBC Interim World Light Heavyweight Champion Joe Schilling as he takes on undefeated top contender Simon Marcus. The bout is expected to be both fighters toughest test to date. The ultra aggressive Schilling will be looking to continue his first round knockout streak, while Marcus will be looking to show everyone that he is the light heavyweight Muay Thai kingpin in North America. WBC International Middleweight Champion Chaz Mulkey will be looking for his sixth consecutive win when he takes on France’s Gregory Choplin. Mulkey has not lost sine December of 2010 and will look to keep the streak alive, while Choplin will be looking to end a two fight skid.
Phanuwat “Coke” Chunhawat and Matt Embree will meet in a rubber match for the vacant WBC international lightweight championship. Each fighter holds a split decision victory over the other.
Jose Palacios and Shane Oblonsky will both be looking to rebound from losses their last fight. Palacios dropped a split decision to Malaipet Sasiprapa at the previous Lion Fight Promotions event, while Oblonsky dropped a unanimous decision in China to Zhipeng Zhou.
The rest of the pro card for “Battle in the Desert 5” will feature Vivian Leung vs. Tiffany Van Soest, Scotty Leffler vs. Sheldon Gaines and Anthony Castrejon vs. Francisco Barragan.
