Shane Oblonsky expected to replace Kit Cope against Jose Palacios at Lion Fight Promotions "Battle in the Desert 5"

Kit Cope is out of his fight with Jose Palacios at Lion Fight Promotions “Battle in the Desert 5”. The fight was originally set to take place at Lion Fight Promotions “Battle in the Desert 4” this past November, but Cope was not cleared by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. Malaipet Sasiprapa took the fight against Palacios on two days notice. The fight was re-scheduled to February, but once again Cope will not be fighting. With a little over a month left before fight night, sources close to the situation tell us that Shane Oblonsky is expected to replace Kit Cope although nothing is official yet.

Oblonsky recently dropped a decision Zhipeng Zhou in China to start the New Year off. The fight was a re-match of their October 2011 fight in Las Vegas, a bout which Oblonsky won by split decision. Oblonsky is based out of Seal Beach, CA and is currently training at Team Oyama.

Palacios will be looking to bounce back after his split decision loss to Malaipet this past November at “Battle in the Desert 4”. Before dropping the fight to Malaipet, Palacios was on a three fight winning streak with victories over Joey Pagliuso, Scotty Leffler and Artem Sharoshkin.
