10 fights we want to see in 2013

2012 was another solid year for Muay Thai in North America, we have decided to compile a list of ten fights we would love to see in 2013. All of the fights include a North American fighter, and if we are lucky and any of these fights do happen in 2013 then hopefully they will all be on North American soil. Fights include a range of fighters from Canadian's Joseph Valtellini and Simon Marcus to American's Kevin Ross and Ky Hollenbeck.

Keep in mind that there are many exciting fights that could be made, but these are ten that we would consider competitive and entertaining. Of course there are various variations or other fights that we would love to see, but we had to limit ourselves to ten fights only. Chime in with fights you want to see in 2013 and why you would like to see that fight happen. The fights are in no particular order.

Kevin Ross vs. Matt Embree
The talks about Ross vs. Embree have been going on for about a year now. There were a few rumors about the bout taking place last year, but when Ross went under the knife for knee surgery the rumors came to an end. Fans would definitely be in for a treat as Embree and Ross are considered by many to be two of the top 140 lb fighters in North America.

Simon Marcus vs. Artem Levin
This bout has been scheduled to take place on three different occasions and each time it has been cancelled. The winner of this bout would easily be considered the best light heavyweight in the world and it is a fight the fans would like to see, and not just in North America, but worldwide. Let’s hope that someone can make it happen in 2013.

Ky Hollenbeck vs. Aegpracha Meenayothin
Hollenbeck and Aegpracha were set to fight this past August under the Push Kick Promotions banner, but the bout ended up being scratched at the last minute. Since then, fans have been hoping to see Hollenbeck and Aegpracha pit their relentless styles against one another. With both fighters the types to push forward in their bouts, this one has fireworks written all over it.

Andrew Tate vs. Joe Schilling
Both Tate and Schilling are known for finishing their opponents in a manner that is sure to give the fans an explosive bout. Not only would this be an exciting fight in the ring, but the pre-fight build up would be of epic proportions as both fighters are known for saying what is on their mind and not holding anything back.

Simon Marcus vs. Eddie Walker
Simon Marcus holds two victories over Joe Schilling, but none were as devastating as the knockout victory Eddie Walker earned over Schilling. Seeing that Schilling was able to score a knockdown on Marcus in their second fight, it would be interesting to see if Marcus could take a clean shot from Walker, should Walker be able to get one through on a technician such as Marcus.

Tiffany Van Soest vs. Denise Kielholtz
Both of these ladies can let their limbs fly in the ring and cause some serious damage. With Van Soest starting to become the face of women’s Muay Thai in America, a match up with the Dutch winner of last December's Enfusion tournament would be a great for women’s Muay Thai in 2013.

Joseph Valtellini vs. Shane Campbell
A battle between these two Canadians would be great, as they both have exciting and aggressive styles. Campbell was the next up and coming fighter in the Canadian Muay Thai scene a few years back before shifting his focus to MMA. He is now back, actively fighting Muay Thai while still competing in MMA. Valtellini, however, is now considered the next up and coming fighter out of Canada, and with both of their aggressive styles in the ring, it should prove to be an exciting fight.

Ky Hollenbeck vs. Chike Lindsay

While Chike Lindsay is known for his strength and technique, Hollenbeck is known for his strength and aggression, making for a match up that would be a treat for fans, were these fighters to lock horns in 2013. Would Lindsay’s technical styles be able to stifle Hollenbeck’s aggressiveness or vice versa?

Mohammed Lemjerdine vs. Ognjen Topic 2
Topic has been involved in some high profile fights as of late, but back in September of 2011 he dropped a close decision to Lemjerdine, who at the time was making his pro debut. Since that bout, Lemjerdine has gone 3-1 and Topic 4-1, a re-match of anything like the September 2011 bout would be a treat for the fans.

Alex Berrios vs. Brett Hlavacek
Berrios and Hlavacek are two of the east coast’s best fighters. They are both technical, but also posses finishing power. A match up between the two would be entertaining to watch as they both look to implement their technical styles on one another. At the same time, fans would have the opportunity to see two of the Unite States most underrated fighters. They might not make a lot of noise with their mouths, but they are definitely forces to be reckoned with in the fight scene.

  1. Yodsanklai vs Buakaw? Two thai's that should be systematically burned out are actually still looking good to fight of fireworks. Yodsanklai is looking like the best shape he has ever been in.
