Road to Glory USA Heavyweight Tournament Matches

The Road to Glory USA heavyweight tournament is set to take place today in Tulsa, OK. Amongst the eight fighters looking to win the one night tournament and earn a Glory contract as well as the $20,000 grand prize are Xavier Vigney, James Wilson, Jack May, and Julian Walters. 

The opening round draw occurred yesterday at the weigh-ins an the match ups were set for the first round. Julian Walters vs. Brian McVae, Xavier Vigney vs. Jack May, Maurice Green vs. Jerry Watterson, and James Wilson vs. Anton Berzin. There will also be a reserve bout between Steven Banks and Haze Wilson.

Results and Recap: K-1 Los Angeles Heavyweight GP

The first bout of the K-1 Heavyweight GP featured Seth Petruzelli and Xavier Vigney. Petruzelli did a good job of not letting Vigney used his long limbs early on, but it didn’t take long before Vigney found his mark. A right hand knocked down Petruzelli in the first and after answering the count another right knocked Petruzelli down again. It seemed Petruzelli didn’t beat the count but the bout continued into the second round. In the second round a short left from Vigney knocked Petruzelli down again. After answering the count a brief exchange ended with a knee up the middle from Vigney and Petruzelli went down again. The referee wasn’t going to count but Petruzelli would not get up. The KO win for Vigney came at 1:17 of the second round.

Rick Roufus and Mighty Mo, two veterans of the sport fought for three hard rounds. Mighty Mo was the aggressor as Roufus looked to use counter strikes. Roufus was able to avoid Mighty Mo’s big strikes and land some solid counter punches and kicks. In the end the judges awarded Roufus a split decision victory.

On September 8th in Los Angeles, California K-1 will set off its Heavyweight Tournament where several of the world's top standup fighters will meet and vie for top spot in the world kickboxing.  Coming from a standup-based MMA career, Jack "The Outlaw" May looks to test his skill set against Jarrell Miller.  Training out of CSW in Fullerton, California, Jack trains under the guidance of Erik Paulson, the first American to ever win the World Light-Heavyweight Shooto Title in Japan. "The Outlaw" was a stand out basketball player in high school, which earned him a division 1 college scholarship. Off the court issues with fighting led the him to play for four different colleges and earning him his nickname. His fighting skills have led him to amass a 4-0 MMA record, providing his assured impact on the K-1 Heavyweight Tournament.
