Results and Recap: Take-On Productions "Battle at Bally's"

by Peeloshmee Deonarian
Atlantic City, NJ -- Take-On Productions hosted their first ever full rules Muay Thai event at Bally's Casino in Atlantic City, NJ. The night's main event featured a bout between Philadelphia's Justin Greskiewicz and New York's Eddie Martinez. Greskiewicz and Martinez went directly into the clinch when the fight started and remained there for most of the first round working elbows and knees. The bout was very back and forth, Martinez tried to close the gap with punches while Greskiewicz used his kicks to keep the gap between them. Both fighters were more than willing to take advantage of the full rules and use their elbows as they tried to slice one another up. By the end of the bout both fighters were bleeding from their forehead as they went tit for tat with their strikes. The fight was close and in the end the judges awarded Justin Greskiewicz a split decision.

Jay Matias and Jake Mainini were the night's other pro bout as both fighters made their pro debuts. From the start of the bout Matias was the aggressor and he continued to press the action the entire fight. Despite backing up Mainini was game and fired back solid kicks while Matias used some solid combinations to score. Both fighters looked good in their debuts, but it was clear that Matias had gotten the better of Mainini and the judges saw it the same way as they awarded Matias a majority decision.

  1. A lot of majority and split decisions! Looks like the judges weren't seeing eye to eye for most of the night.

  2. I think it could be because they implemented the unified rules that New Jersey's Nick Lembo and a few others created. The first round is for the most part supposed to be scored 10-10. Not sure but that might play a role in that.
