Lo-Bloo, the evolution of groin protection

When it comes to protecting the family jewels, the Thai Cup has historically been revered as the standard. That's until two fighters/trainers in Sweden decided to create and patent a safer and more comfortable cup to use modeled after the Thai Cup with 21st century technology and function. The new groin system available in North America by Competitive ACE is called Lo-Bloo. Lo-Bloo promises to add safety, comfort, functionality, hygiene and cost savings to the world of groin protection.

Although the cup is made of polymer plastic, it has been tested to 4 tons of pressure. In addition to the added comfort from being completely ergonomically contoured for the groin area, the cup's design and function makes it stay in place upon impact. This is different from other modern types of cups as they can swing inside a compression short and ultimately transfer some of the impact of a hit.

Another major comfort point is that Lo-Bloo does not have a G-String type rope that ties in through the back area as does the Thai steel cup. Besides the comfort, the Lo-Bloo system also allows for any individual to put on/take off and adjust their own cup without any assistance.  Traditional Thai Cups require someone to tie the ropes on their backside and the cup feels cold due to the metal.

On the functionality side, Lo-Bloo does not require a specific compression short for its use, it can be used on any under-garment or short which is great if you are frequently training and want to use a fresh pair of shorts/under-wear. Because of its material, Lo-Bloo can be easily rinsed in the sink or put in the washing machine.  A Thai steel cup on the other-hand is constructed with metal, rope, and leather/vinyl making it harder to keep clean and dry.  Lo-Bloo washing bags are available as well.

Up until now, the current system of having a groin cup with compression short combination required you to use the that groin system compression short for proper fit.  This was a problem if you trained frequently and only had a one or a few shorts.  Rewashing those shorts is not always practical and possible.  Lo-Bloo gives you the flexibility to use any short.

Lo-Bloo's North American Distributor is Competitive Ace and Lo-Bloo can be purchased at www.CompetitiveACE.com.

The use of Namman Muay is now officially allowed in the state of Nevada. The push for the use of Namman Muay has been on-going for quite some time and although there are restrictions to its use, enthusiast and purist of Muay Thai should be able to chalk this one up as a victory. Below are the exact rules on being able to use Namman Muay in the state of Nevada, the link will take you to the official Nevada State Athletic Commission website. Competitive Ace, the North American distributor of Namman Muay has their target set on California next.

Sponsor Spotlight: Namman Muay

Anyone who has trained Muay Thai has likely used Namman Muay before. For those not familiar with the name, Namman Muay is a Thai liniment that serves as a warming agent to prepare the body for strenuous activity.

Until mid 2010 Namman Muay was actually illegal in the United States, any bottles you bought from your local gym or market were brought over a few bottles at a time from people returning from Thailand, technically they were not supposed to be sold. Competitive Ace then decided to get involved and help regulate the importing of Namman Muay to the United States. With their due diligence Namman Muay was accepted by the Food and Drug Administration, and they are now the official importer of Namman Muay.

Muay Thai Martial Arts Museum Exhibit

Competitive ACE is the exclusive distributor of Namman Muay (Thai Liniment) for North America. In their efforts to support the growth and development of Muay Thai they have been hard at work since 2009 laying down the ground work to create a Muay Thai exhibit in the Martial Arts History Museum.

They would greatly appreciate your help in spreading the word to the community as this is an important cause.  This initiative is one way to give Muay Thai  its rightful place in the museum with the other martial Arts. It would be a shame if a martial arts museum had no Muay Thai exhibit and no Muay Thai Hall of Famers. This is also an opportunity to help expose the sport and art to thousands of people from diverse backgrounds such as tourists, students, and practitioners of other martial arts.

Namman Muay has arrived

Anyone that has trained Muay Thai, doesn't matter if it was recreational or because they were planning on having a fight career, odds are they have had to use some kind of liniment to help ease the pain from training. The liniment used was likely Namman Muay, it’s a very recognizable yellow bottle with green writing on it and a gray cap. It has been used for years, but what you probably didn’t know is that until August of this year it was illegal.

The product that is used by the worlds best fighters is now legally available in the United States. You no longer have to worry about being caught in a sting when buying some from your local gym owner. Competitive Ace has helped get this product approved by the FDA in the United States and it will no longer need to be smuggle into the country.
