Jared Lara injury update

Yesterday it was reported here on MuayThaiAuthority.com that Jared Lara was forced to withdraw from his Oct. 2 title defense against Erik Utsch at WCK Muay Thai at Pala Casino due to a hand injury.

After speaking with Lara, the hand injury has been confirmed. Lara stated to Muay Thai Authority that he injured his hand sparring.

"During sparring I hit my sparring partner in the side of his head and was immediately aware I had a problem. I've tried to hit the bags since and I haven't been able to hit harder than 40%." said Lara.

As reported yesterday, Jack Thames will now step in and replace Lara against Erik Utsch.

Jared Lara out against Erik Utsch, Jack Thame in at WCK Muay Thai at Pala Casino

Jared Lara has been forced to pull out of his October 2nd title defense against Erik Utsch at due to a hand injury. Lara's title defense has been re-scheduled for December 11th in Las Vegas.

Jack Thames will now step in to face Erik Utsch on less than a months notice. Thames recently fought on the August WCK Muay Thai card at Buffalo Bill's where he defeated Mike Ryan in the first round by KO.

Grachev, Gonzalez, Adanza, Huang, Lara, Park, Chunhawat, and Pagliuso all in action at WCK Muay Thai October 2nd at Pala Casino

WCK Muay Thai fights come to Pala Casino Spa and Resort on October 2nd, 2010.

The event is headlined by the Light Heavyweight Muay Thai vs. MMA five-round bout between Denis “The Pirate” Grachev (Russia by way of San Diego) and Fernando Gonzalez (Temecula, Calif.). Grachev, an IKF (International Kickboxing Federation) World Light Heavyweight Champion, former European champion, has a professional Muay Thai record of 15 wins, nine of them by way of knockout, and two losses. Fernando “The Menifee Maniac” Gonzalez is a professional Muay Thai fighter and MMA fighter, who’s fought in King of the Cage and WEC promotions. His MMA record stands at 17 wins and eight losses.

In the nights co-headlining fight, Romie Adanza will defend his IKKC MuayThai International Super Bantamweight title against Haigang Huang of China. Adanza is coming off of a win against British fighter, Andy Howson at Muay Thai in America this past April. Adanza will square off with the National Muay Thai Champion of China, Haigang Huang, who is also a part of the Chinese National Muay Thai team.

Olympic Gold Medalist from Korea, Sujeong Lim will also be on the card. Sujeong is an Olympic Gold medalist in Taekwondo (Beijing Olympics of 2008), bronze medalist of the International Federation of Muay Thai Amateur Tournament held in Bangkok in 2007 and the Muay Thai bantamweight champion in South Korea.

Also featured on the card is the current WMC World Champion Phanuwat “Coke” Chunhawat of Thailand, who will be taking on Korean fighter, Byoung-Ku Park.
