Giorgio Petrosyan vs. Xu Yan set for Hero Legend event on August 28

It was rumored earlier this week that Giorgio Petrosyan would be fighting Yodsanklai Fairtex at Hero Legend on August 28. Despite everyone wanting that fight to be true, we unfortunately confirmed that the bout would not be taking place. With Yodsanklai fighting August 8th in Australia, it left everyone wondering if Petrosyan would at least be fighting at the Hero Legend event. It has now been confirmed that Petrosyan will be fighting China's Xu Yan at the event.

Petrosyan will be looking to win this third consecutive fight since his shocking loss to Andy Risite at Glory 12. His last two wins came over respected fighters Erkan Varol and Enriko Kehl.

Yan will look to win his fourth consecutive fight. He has not tasted defeat in his last six bouts, although there is a draw against Yoshihiro Sato among those six bouts. A regular on the Hero Legend cards, Yan holds wins over fighters like Mike Zambidis and Mexico's Luis Bio.

Kings Cup 8 man tournament draw, Pique, Oberg, and Askerov out

The draw to set the match-ups for the Kings Cup 8 man tournament has taken place. In some interesting changes Marco Pique (Holland), Dzhabar Askerov (Russia) will not fight because they are present at the Rumble of the Kings, and Marcus Oberg (Sweeden) withdrew from the tournament for unknown reasons.

Stepping in to take their slots in the tournament will be Xu Yan (China), Alexandre Vogel (Germany), and Soleimani (Iran). Although they might not carry the name power of Pique and Dzhabar they made sure quality replacements were selected, and the tournament still shapes out to be a talent filled event. The Chinese WuLinFeng team bested the United States team by winning five of the nine match-ups that took place at Harrah's Casino in Las Vegas Nevada. The United States claimed three victories.

Shane Oblonsky put on a great show to defeat Xu Yan by unanimous decision. Yan was coming off a unanimous decision victory of his own against the highly regarded Malaipet. The other bright spots for the U.S. team were Adrien Grotte who won via KO in Rd.2 against Yi Long, and Andy Kapel, whom took home a close split decision against Guo Qiang. In quite a surprise Heath "Cowboy" Harris was defeated by Wang Hongxiang by TKO in the first round, unfortunately for Harris he suffered an ankle injury. The WuLinFeng team definitely came prepared and unfortunately for the United States team they were not able to claim victory with the final tally ending up 5-3-1 in favor of the WuLinFeng team.
