Ky Hollenbeck talks upcoming WCK Muay Thai title fight with Vuyisile Colossa

Muay Thai Authority had the chance to catch up with Ky Hollenbeck about his upcoming bout with Vuyisile Colossa for the WCK Muay Thai world title on April 23rd.

MTA: You have an upcoming fight with Vuyisile Colossa in China for WCK Muay Thai. What are your thought on Vuyisile?

Ky: Ya I'm going to be fighting Vuyisile Colossa on this show in China. He's fought a ton of good guys and only lost to a handful of them, and all of his losses are to high level guys. Yodsaenklai Fairtex, Armen Petrosyan, Dmitry Valent, Naruepol Fairtex to name a few. He's a very skilled fighter with great hands and a ton of heart. I am stoked to be fighting him.

MTA: Vuyisile will be your toughest test to date, anything he brings to the table you have to be ready for?

Ky: He's a great name and a great challenge. I have always said I want to fight the best people I can. I think both our styles match up and will make for a killer show. This is an important fight for me, a win will help boost me to a new level of competition and more fights with top level guys. I feel strong and confident in my skills. I'm improving everyday, and come fight night I'm gonna be the best Ky Hollenbeck I've ever been in the ring. I cant wait.

MTA: Can you give us a prediction for your fight with Vuyisile?

Ky: I'm not much for predictions. I think its gonna be a awesome fight. Vuyisile is a great fighter with a great name. I know he doesn't know that much about me and I think that works to my advantage. I love being the underdog in a fight, at the same time I'm the current world champion for a reason. He's coming after my title and I don't plan on giving it up to anyone.

MTA: You have a fight with Gregory Choplin in May, having fights so close together already booked how do you keep focus on your current bout without thinking about the other one?

Ky: I just keep my mind focused on the person in front of me. Gregory isn't even on my radar right now, and he wont be until this fight with Colossa is over. then all my energy will be pointed at him.

MTA: Those are two very good fighters you will be fighting back to back, world class actually, mentally how do you prepare for that?

Ky: I always say I wanna fight the best fighter possible. I feel like the stronger the opponent the more focused my mind becomes on the task at hand. The fact that they are so close together is nice because I will have zero ring rust for the second fight.

MTA: You mentioned you want to fight top level competition, anyone in particular in mind you would love to fight?

Ky: Well I can go as low as 155 so that opens the option to fight some top K-1 fighters. If the next two fights go well I would love to continue to step up the competition and fight someone even more high profile. Buakaw, Yohan Lidon, Demitry Valent are just a few names that come to mind. I really will fight anyone that the promoters will give me.

MTA: Do you have any other fights scheduled past the fight with Choplin on May 14th?

Ky: After the May card I have a fight in the works for the Philippines in June and possibly a fight in LA after that. But its a little too early to be 100 % on the LA show.
