Friday Night Fights Muay Thai was in full swing this past weekend in New York. Headlining the night’s event was a bout between Eric Utsch and Sean Hinds. Utsch was returning to action after some significant time off.
Utsch started off strong in the fight knocking down Hinds in the first round with a straight right hand, but Hinds was able to get back to his feet. Utsch was the aggressor early letting his hands go, while Hinds looked to score with low kicks. Utsch continued his aggressive approach as the fight progressed landing both punches and kicks while staying busy. Hinds came on strong in the final round looking to rally, but Utsch seemed fairly confident he had won the fight when it was over. The judges, however, saw things differently as they awarded Hinds a split decision victory and the WKA North American Middleweight Championship.
Also in a notable amateur fight New York’s Angela Hill defended her WKA Flyweight Title and kept her undefeated record in tact with a unanimous decision win over San Francisco’s Sheila Adamos.
