Results and Recap: Thai Fight Quarterfinals

Thai Fight was back last night with King of Muay Thai 2012 in Bangkok, Thailand. Buakaw once again headlined the event as he took on Italian fighter Mauro Serra in the quarter finals of the 154lb (70kg) tournament. As always the crowd was going crazy for Buakaw, but Serra came out ready to fight and was willing to engage with Buakaw. The fight was fairly event until the closing moments of the first round when Buakaw unleashed a flurry of punches that ended with a right hand that dropped Serra before the bell rang. In the second round Buakaw came out knowing he had Serra hurt and immediately began to attack, despite easily taking over that round Serra made it to see the third round, but just as soon as it began it was over. First Buakaw connected with a left hook that dropped Serra, after Serra was able to get back to his feet Buakaw attacked him like a mad man looking to finish the fight eventually connecting with a knee to the midsection that dropped Serra and forced the end of the bout. Dominant performance by Buakaw who is now on an 18 fight win streak and has not lost since a 2009 decision to Andy Souwer.

Singmanee Kaewsamrit picked Vatnikaj Valdeim apart with kicks to the body and legs in a quarterfinal bout of the 147lb (67kg). It seemed that Valeim had no answer for Kaewsamrit and in quickly began to look like target practice for Singmanee. In the end it was a dominant decision win for Singmanee.

The remaining fighters advancing to the semi-finals of the 154lb tournament are Nishikawa Tomoyuki, Antero Hynynen, and Vitaly Gurkov. The remaining fighters advancing to the semi-finals of the 147lb tournament are Andrei Kulebin, Mehdi Zatout, and Adaylton Pareira De Freitas.
