Thai Fight 2014 Final Results: Yodsanklai and Saenchai score first round stoppages

The final event of 2014 took place for Thai Fight today and it featured some great finishes by some of the biggest names in Muay Thai. Some of the fights were fought with rope wrapped around the fighters hands like in Muay Boran, while other featured gloves. Yodsanklai Fairtex was in action and he continued to steam roll through the competition. Christophe Pruvost was the victim this time, as soon as this fight began Yodsanklai planted Pruvost on his rear end with straight left. Seconds later a right dropped Pruvost again. Purvost was able to beat the referee's count both times, but a few seconds after the second knockdown another straight left knocked him down and the referee had seen enough and the fight was stopped. The win is Yodsanklai's fourth straight by (T)KO, he has not lost a fight since November of 2011 and has now won 16 consecutive fights.

Saenchai scored an exciting knockout over his opponent, Ghilas Barache in the first round of their fight. A lightning fast head kick connected from Saenchai while he had Barache against the ropes and ended the fight. It was a spectacular knockout by Saenchai.

Yodsanklai Fairtex def. Christophe Pruvost via (T)KO in Rd. 1

Betting on Muay Thai

World class fighters within the Muay Thai scene including 23-year-old Antonie Pinto were in attendance. The Frenchman has won 117 out of 152 matches throughout his career, while Thailand's Sudsakorn Sor Klinnmee, with 225 wins in 263 matches, also made an appearance.

The event has been taking place since 2010 and already has a huge following, which is indicative of the growing popularity of Muay Thai itself. The martial art originated in Thailand and has been practised since the era of King Naresuan in 1560 CE. It involves using 'eight limbs,' including the fists, elbows, knees and shins, making it a full contact sport.

The fighting principles of Muay Thai put it in the same bracket as UFC, which uses mixed martial arts and attracts a 2.3 million viewing following. Within this, sports betting sites make a huge profit year on year, as the world of sports betting grows and the martial art becomes more popular.

With so many viewers watching and betting on UFC, it begs the question as to why more spectators do not have a bet on Muay Thai fighting. Geography could indeed be one issue – with the majority of the sport's events taking place and being screened in Thailand, there is a potentially smaller betting market which is usually targeted towards Western viewers.

Despite gambling being completely illegal in Thailand, the sport carries its own form of betting, which is hugely popular amongst spectators. Audience members use a series of hand gestures to convey their betting intentions.

A bet on the favorite, for example, will be indicated by the spectator putting his hand facing downwards. Alternatively, a bet on the underdog will be characterized by a palm facing upwards. This form of 'mime' betting is one of the only legal bets in Thailand, and is widely used in the Lumpinee Stadium, known by locals as the 'Mecca of Muay Thai.'

With this type of betting becoming more popular each day, it is now perhaps time for popular sports betting sites to tailor their bets towards the sport of Muay Thai. The sport is already beginning to achieve global recognition, and with sports betting getting over obstacles such as legislation in the modern day, it could just be a matter of time before spectators the world over are putting their money on tournaments or fights all over the world

Thai Fight took place earlier today in Vietnam and the event featured Saenchai, Saiyok, Antoine Pinto and Sean Kearney. There were plenty of knockouts on the night including Saenchai and Saiyok.

Sean Kearney will fight Fabio Pinca on November 21 at Lion Fight 19, but before he fights for the Lion Fight world title Kearney took on Iquezang Kor. Rungthanakeat and scored a decision victory. The latest Thai Fight event took place this past Saturday in  Hua Hin, Thailand for some hard hitting Muay Thai action. As usual names like Yodsanklai Fairtex, Sudsakorn Sor. Klinmee, and Antoine Pinto were in action at the event. All fights except for two were fought using only hand wraps similar to Muay Boran.

The main event featured Yodsanklai vs. Keo Rumchang and as expected Yodsanklai walked away the winner. Thai Fight 2013 Finals Results and Recap

The Thai Fight 2013 Finals took place this past weekend in Thailand and the 154lb and 147lb tournament winners were crowned. Things went as expected as Yodsanklai Fairtex won the 154lb tournament and Fahmongkol Sor . Jor . Danrayong won the 147lb tournament.

Yodsanklai made it look easy agaisnt Expedito Valin. He knocked Valin down a total of three times. From the start of the fight Valin offered little offense as Yodsanklai walked through anything that was thrown at him as he stalked Valin. The first knock down came from an uppercut in the first round. Valin survived the round but in the second round things continued much like in the first. Yodsanklai knocked Valin down with a right punch and after Valin recovered Yodsanklai continued on the attack eventually connecting with another right that put Valin's lights out for good. With the win Yodsanklai has now won his last ten fights with seven of them being (T)KO's.

Ruslan Kushnirenko put up a worthy effort against Fahmongkol but in the end the Thai was just to skilled. Fahmongkol was simply a step ahead of Kushnirenko the entire fight. In the second round a perfectly executed left knee faint followed up by a right knee to the body spelled the end for Kushnirenko as he hit the canvas and could not beat the referee's count. It was a great display of technique by Fahmongkol.

Chike Lindsay to represent the United States at 2013 154lb Thai Fight tournament

Chike Lindsay has been selected to represent the United States at this year's 154lb Thai Fight tournament on October 23rd in Thailand. The only other fighter confirmed for the tournament as of now is the man that most recently defeated Lindsay, Yodsanklai Fairtex.

Yodsanklai defeated Lindsay by unanimous decision at Lion Fight 10 this past July. The potential rematch would be a bit different than their first bout because Thai Fight uses a three round format instead of a five round format. Before his loss to Yodsanklai, Lindsay had defeated Thai legend Somluck Kamsing and was riding a five fight winning streak.

Thai Fight 2013 Results

Thai Fight took place this past weekend in Bangkok, Thailand. The event was headlined by Yodsanklai Fairtex, his opponent for the night was Russian Kazbek Zubayraer. As expected Yodsanklai walked away with the victory after Zubayraer couldn't answer the bell to come out for the second round. It seemed that he had suffered a leg injury in the first round. Yodsanklai will now turn his focus to Chike Lindsay at Lion Fight 10 on July 26th in Las Vegas.

Currently in the middle of a career resurgence Yodsanklai posted his fifth consecutive victory with a second round (T)KO victory over little known Naimjon Tuhtobaev of Uzbekistan.
