Promoter Mike Miles hosted the sold out “Challenger 3 – JAWBREAKER” event on Saturday January 28th at the Century Casino in Calgary. The event featured Team Canada vs. Team Thailand in what was a series of exciting bouts. The nights’ professional bouts were sanctioned by the Calgary Combative Sports Commission (CCSC) and the World Muaythai Council (WMC). The amateur bouts were sanctioned by the International Federation of Muaythai Amateur (IFMA) and Muaythai Alberta (MA).
In the night’s main event Canada’s Jesse Miles took on Thailand’s Wattana Sit Jor. The opening round of the fight saw both fighters feel each other out and not over commit to anything. The action started to pick up in the second round, Miles was successful with kick early on before both fighters started letting their limbs fly. Both fighters were able to avoid one another’s attacks for the most part. Wattana scored the first big blow of the fight when a right hand sent Miles to the canvas. Miles popped back up instantly and when the fight was resumed it was clear Wattana was ready to end the bout as he darted across the ring trying to deliver a flying knee, which Miles avoided. Miles survived the round as he stifled Wattana’s offense by closing the distance, smothering him and not allowing him to be successful with his strikes.
