Riddick Bowe's Muay Thai debut no longer happening, entire event canceled

When Riddick Bowe announced he would be fighting Muay Thai last month many immediately doubted the seriousness of his claim. When the fight card he would be a part of was announced people were excited, despite many thinking Bowe fighting Muay Thai was a farce, it was on a stacked fight card. The event was set to feature Simon Marcus, Chike Lindsay, Saiyok Pumpanmuang, Sean Kearny, Kaoklai Kaennorsing, an more. There was that group of people, however, who believed that event would never happen and it was just a ploy for attention, it seems those people were correct. The Muaythai Superfight event that was set to feature Riddick Bowe's Muay Thai debut has been canceled.

The reason for the cancellation of the event is currently unknown, but one of the rumors flying around was that Bowe was injured in training and the entire fight card was scrapped. If that is the case it is pretty unfortunate that several other high level fighters won't have the opportunity to show case their skills and get paid because a side show attraction such as Riddick Bowe in Muay Thai wont be happening on the fight card.

Riddick Bowe set to make Muay Thai debut on stacked card featuring Simon Marcus, Chike Lindsay, Saiyok, Kaoklai, and more

It looks like Riddick Bowe’s Muay Thai debut is set. On May 16th Bowe will fight Levgen Golovin of Russia at Muaythai Superfight in Thailand. Bowe, a former heavyweight champion in boxing will be part of a pretty stacked fight card. Simon Marcus vs. Kaoklai Kaennorsing, Chike Lindsay vs. Saiyok Pumpanmuang, Sean Kearney vs. Armin Windysport, and Singmanee Kaewsamrit vs. Malic Groenberg are all expected to fight on the event.

Rumors about the 45 year old Bowe making his Muay Thai debut surfaced last week, and not it seems that it is official. Bowe’s fight is definitely surrounded by some spectacular Muay Thai fights and weather you are tuning in to watch if Bowe can make it out of the first round or if he has legitimate Muay Thai skills you shouldn’t be disappointed with this fight card.

Simon Marcus will face Kaoklai Kaennorsing in a re-match of their 2012 fight with Marcus on fairly easily. Marcus is fresh off claiming the number one spots in the light heavyweight division with his recent victory over Artem Levin at Lion Fight 9.

Chike Lindsay and Saiyok should be a treat for fans. Lindsay most recently defeated Muay Thai legend Somluck Kamsing at Push Kick Promotions “World Stand Off”. Sean Kearney from Canada will also take huge step up in competition when he takes on Armin Windysport. Kearney could really put his name on the map with a win against Armin.

Kraus, Colossa, Bio, Zhipeng set for WuLinFeng 8-man one night tournament on New Year's Eve

On New Year's Eve China will play host to a WuLinFeng 8-man one night tournament. The WuLinFeng 8-man tournament will feature Luis Bio vs. Zhou Zhipeng, Dong Wenfei vs. Gustavo Mendez, Albert Kraus vs. Zheng Zhaoyu, and Want Weihao vs. Vuyisile Colossa in the quarterfinals. It should prove to be an interesting tournament and the winner of the tournament will definitely have bested a solid field of competition when it's over.

Also fighting on the card will be Kaoklai Kaennorsing vs. Fong Bian. You can see the full fight card below.

Simon Marcus talks win against Kaoklai and upcoming fight in China

Simon Marcus recently defeated Kaoklai Kaennorsing in Thailand. Simon was kind enough to answer a few questions for Muay Thai Authority about his fight with Kaoklai and his upcoming fight in China. Simon is scheduled to fight Joe Schilling in a highly anticipated re-match on May 12th at Lion Fight Muay Thai VI, but before that bout takes place Simon will be fighting two fighters in China. The fight(s) will be three rounds with one fighter and three rounds with another fighter back to back.

MTA: Simon you just defeated Kaoklai in Thailand. Did that fight go exactly as planned?

Simon: I would say the fight went exactly as planned because my only plan was to win.

MTA: In May you will be fighting Joe Schilling, he fought Kaoklai last October and knocked him out in the first round and you beat Kaoklai by decision. Critics will probably use that fight as a comparison, what do you have to say about that?

Erik Teer was on site for Muay Thai Authority at Central World in Bangkok for Suk Wan Muaythai Naikhanomtom (National Muaythai Day) to capture some pictures of all the action. The night's main event featured a bout between Canadian power house Simon Marcus and Muay Thai legend Kaoklai Kaennorsing.

Simon Marcus defeats Kaoklai and Suriya Prasathinphimai defeats Chike Lindsay in Thailand

There was some Muay Thai action at Central World in Bangkok for Suk Wan Muaythai Naikhanomtom (National Muaythai Day) today. Canadian Simon Marcus and Thai Kaoklai Kaennorsing were the night’s main event. The bout was one sided in favor of Marcus. He pressed the action, out struck Kaoklai and out worked him in the clinch. Kaoklai seemed fatigued after the first round and Marcus simply kept scoring points. In the end Marcus walked away with an easy decision victory over Kaoklai.

American Chike Lindsay and Suriya Prasathinphimai fought in the night’s co-main event. Lindsay was game, but Suriya was just a step ahead the entire time. Having competed in the 2004 Summer Olympics for boxing, it was expected that Suriya’s hands could make the difference. He used some solid boxing mixed in with his Thai boxing skills to outpoint Chike Lindsay and take home a decision from the judges.

Chike Lindsay set to fight Suriya Prasathinphimai

Chike Lindsay vs. Suriya Prasathinphimai has been added to the fights at Central World in Bangkok for Suk Wan Muaythai Naikhanomtom, better known in the United States as National Muay Thai Day. The event which takes place on March 16th will feature a main event fight between Canadian Simon Marcus, Muay Thai legend Kaoklai Kaennorsing.

Lindsay is coming off a spectacular knockout of Eddie Martinez at Bangkok Fight Night 12. Suriya was a bronze medal winner at the 2004 Summer Olympics in boxing and is also a former S-1 champion. Lindsay is one of America's top fighters and it should be interesting to see how he stack up against a fighter with Suriya's accolades.

Kevin Ross vs. Choke Eminent Air and Simon Marcus vs. Kaoklai Kaennorsing set to take place on March 16th in Thailand

As reported by Total Muay Thai, Suk Wan Muaythai Naikhanomtom, better known in the United States as National Muay Thai Day, will feature an event on March 16th at Central World in Bangkok. Fighting on the event are American Kevin Ross, Canadian Simon Marcus, Muay Thai legend Kaoklai Kaennorsing and Choke Eminent Air.

Ross will be returning to action against Choke Eminent Air. This will be the first fight for him since his October loss to Sakkedao Petchpayathai in Los Angeles. Ross had a mixed 2011 campaign as he fought two of the best fighters in the world, but went 1-3 on the year. He held his own against Saenchai losing a decision, but was stopped by Sakkedao after an elbow opened up a nasty cut on his head. Ross undoubtedly be looking to end the two fight skid he is currently on as he tried to continue to carve his name out in North American Muay Thai and the world.

Who wins, Team America or Team Thailand? Predictions for M-One "Team Thailand vs. Team America"

With M-One "Team Thailand vs. Team America" right around the corner it is once again time for predictions. Team America certainly has their work cut out for them, but despite being seen as under dogs all of Team America fighters posses the tools to win. It will be an exciting night of fights and could potentially be a huge step forward for American Muay Thai depending on the results and performances of the American team.

Kevin Ross vs. Sakkedao Petchpayathai - WBC Muay Thai super lightweight world title
Ross goes from a fight with Saenchai to a fight with Sakkedao. While most people would like an easier fight their next time out that isn't the case with Ross, he continues to want to take on the best. Sakkedao has defeated Saenchai twice, but as Ross has stated, it doesn't matter because they are both different and the fact that they both have fought Saenchai is a mute point.

Important update for M-One "Team Thailand vs. Team America" and full fight card

M-One’s “Team Thailand vs. Team America” will take place tomorrow, October 21st at Club Nokia in Los Angeles, CA. It was previously reported that the pro fights would be the first set of fights and that they would start at 7pm sharp since they are being broadcast live in Thailand.

The pro fights will still begin at 7pm sharp, but two of the amateur bouts will begin at 6pm sharp, at 7pm the pro bouts will begin and the remaining amateur bouts will then take place after the pro bouts end. Make sure to check the line up below if you intend of supporting a specific amateur fighter that might be fighting before the pro fights so that you can make sure to arrive on time to support them during their fight.

Scott Hirano was on hand for Muay Thai Authority at Sasiprapa Gym in Rancho Cucamonga, CA to capture Kaoklai Kaennorsing performing a light workout a few days before his fight with Joe Schilling at M-One's "Team Thailand vs. Team America". Kaoklai will headline the event against Schilling and is expected to be the toughest test of Schilling's career thus far.

Results and Recap: Muaythai Premier League "Strength and Honour"

 The Muaythai Premier League's (MPL) second event "Strength and Honour" took place on Saturday, October 8th in Padova, Italy. Much like the "Stars and Stripes" event that took place in Long Beach, CA it was a stacked fight card that featured some big names including Saiyok, Liam Harrison, Jordan Watson, Ky Hollenbeck and Kaoklai to name a few.

The night's lone non-league bout featured Thai fighter Kaoponglek against Fance's Charles Francois. The fight was one sided in favor of Kaoponglek who used all of his tools to pick apart Francois. The fight was eventually stopped due to a cut, but it was quite clear that Kaoponglek was on his way to earning the victory before the bout was stopped.

Fight Card for MPL's "Strength and Honour" event in Padova, Italy

On Saturday, October 8th the Muaythai Premier's League's (MPL) second event "Strength & Honour" will take place in Padova, Italy. There have been a few changes since the events original announcement, American Kevin Ross will no longer be part of the league and has been replaced by Maurro Serra of Italy. In addition to the absence of Ross from the tournament, Saenchai will no longer be fighting on the card.

The bulk of the card features bouts that are part of the MPL's league format. Liam Harrison, Jordan Watson, Saiyok, Kaoklai and Ky Hollenbeck will all be in action at "Strength and Honour" looking to start the competition off with a victory. The next leg of the MPL is expected to take place on November 6th in the Netherlands.

Important information regarding M-One "Team America vs. Team Thailand" on October 21st at Club Nokia in Los Angeles

Some important information has been brought to the attention of Muay Thai Authority regarding the upcoming M-One Muay Thai event at Club Nokia in Los Angeles, CA on October 21st. The event will start at 7pm, but fans should plan on arriving at 6pm when the doors open, unlike most Muay Thai events the night's pro card will take place before the amateur card.

The event will be televised in Thailand, therefore the pro bouts will be the first to happen and the event will begin at 7pm sharp. Once the pro card is complete the amateur portion of the event will take place. We can not stress enough the importance to fans that are looking to catch Joe Schilling vs. Kaoklai, Kevin Ross vs. Sakkedao, Romie Adanza vs. Langsuanglek or Rungravee Sasiprapa, being at the event early is key. Fans must also take into consideration that the event is in downtown Los Angeles, do not under estimate traffic, plan to leave your houses with plenty of time. Below is the current and likely final fight card of the event.

Tickets for M-One's "Team USA vs. Thailand" at Club Nokia on sale now

Tickets for the October 21st M-One event featuring Kevin Ross, Joe Schilling and Romie Adanza are on sale now at Ticketmaster. The event will feature what is being called "Team USA vs. Team Thailand", stepping in for Team USA are Kevin Ross, Joe Schilling and Romie Adanza, while team Thailand will feature Sakkedao Petchpayathai, Kaoklai Kaennorsing and Luangsuanlek Sasiprapa Sasiprapa.

Unlike most events dubbed country vs. country this one is really competitive and none of the fighters are expected to have an easy time against any of their opponents. Ross and Schilling will be fighting Sakkedao and Kaoklai for interim WBC Muay Thai world titles and Adanza will be fighting Luansuanlek for an MTAA world title.

Joe Schilling vs. Kaoklai set to fight for WBC Muay Thai world title at Club Nokia on October 21st

Joe Schilling and Kaoklai Kaennorsing are set to fight October 21st at Club Nokia in Los Angeles, CA. The stakes for the fights have been raised as it will now be for the interim WBC Muay Thai light heavyweight world title. WBC Muay Thai title was previously held by Kaoklai, however, Artem Levin defeated Kaoklai earlier this year to take the title from him.

Kaoklai defeated Cyrus Washington in his last fight, after he cut Washington and the fight was stopped. Schilling last defeated Brandon Banda at Lion Fight Promotions "Battle in the Desert 3" with a vicious knockout. Schilling has expressed interest in fighting Kaoklai before and will now get the opportunity to do so for a WBC Muay Thai world title. Schilling is the type of fighter fans love because he comes to try and finish his fights, however, Kaoklai didn't get the nickname "The Giant Killer" for beating up lousy opposition he received it for fighting guys much larger than him. It will be interesting to see what happens in this fight. 

Four bouts official for M-One Muay Thai at Club Nokia; Schilling, Ross, Rungravee, Kaoklai and Adanza confirmed

Four bouts have been made official for the M-One Muay Thai event at Club Nokia in Los Angeles, CA on October 21st. As previously reported here on Muay Thai Authority, Joe Schilling will be taking on Kaoklai Kaennorsing. In addition, American poster boy Kevin Ross will face Sakkedao Petchpayathai, Romie Adanza will fight Luangsuanlek Sasiprapa and the always exciting Rungravee Sasiprapa will be returning to the United States to take on Turkish fighter Yetkin Ozkul.

Schilling has expressed interest in fighting international competition and will now face what is expected to be his toughest test to date in Kaoklai. Schilling recently earned a KO victory over Brandon Banda at Lion Fight Promotions "Battle in the Desert 3" to improve his record to 11-1 with nine of those wins coming via (T)KO. Kaoklai recently defeated American Cyrus Washington at Elite Boxing's "Thailand vs. Challenger" event in July.

Joe Schilling vs. Kaoklai likely for October M-One Muay Thai event in Los Angeles

Joe Schilling is fresh off his first round knockout of Brandon Banda at Lion Fight Promotions "Battle in the Desert 3" and his next bout is already in the works. Schilling is expected to meet Kaoklai Kaennorsing on October 21st at M-One's Muay Thai event scheduled to take place at Club Nokia in Los Angeles, CA. Although the bout has not been officially announced Muay Thai Authority has confirmed with sources close to the situation that the bout will take place.

Schilling is one of America's top Muay Thai fighters and has been chomping at the bit to get international opponents. With a record of 11-1 with nine of his wins coming by KO, Schilling has been a wrecking machine as of late. Schilling is an aggressive fighter who looks to finish fights and it will be interesting to see him face someone like Kaoklai as he will be Schilling's toughest test to date.
