Muaythai Premier League's 4th event postponed due to Thailand floods

The Muaythai Premier League's (MPL) fourth event was scheduled to take place December 5th in Thailand in Celebartion of the Kings Birthday. Unfortunately the floods that have occurred in Thailand have forced the postponement of the event. The event is now expected to take place in early 2012.

The MPL made its debut in September of 2011 and has held three events which have featured some of the best fighters in the world. Buakaw made his American debut under the MPL banner as well as a host of other fighters such as Artem Levin and Nathan Corbett.

Results and Recap: Muaythai Premier League "Blood & Steel"

The third leg of the Muaythai Premier League (MPL) took place on November 6th in The Hauge, Netherlands. The event dubbed "Blood & Steel" once again featured some of the best fighters in the world including Nathan Crobett, Julie Kitchen, Nieky Hozlken, Marco Pique, Ky Hollenbeck, Yohan Lidon and Artem Levin.

American Ky Hollenbeck is the lone American representative in the league portion of the MPL, his opponent for the night was Dutch fighter Nieky Holzken. Hollenbeck has faced tough competition all year and each time out he was considered the underdog. After his win in October over the UK's Jordan Watson the talks were no longer about Hollenbeck being able to hang with the elite, but if his opponents could figure out how to beat him. Holzken had the answer, he made sure to make Hollenbeck pay for the few mistakes he made. Hollenbeck was competitive in the fight, but the few mistakes he made ended up costing him dearly against Holzken.

Julie and Sandra will be fighting at the Muaythai Premier League's (MPL) "Blood and Steel" event in Holland on November 6th. Julie looks to earn her second win in as many tries as Sandra looks to get her first win of the MPL.

Artem Levin talks about his upcoming fight with Roberto Cocco at the MPL's "Blood & Steel"

Artem Levin is considered one of the favorites to make it to the finals of the Muaythai Premier Leagues' (MPL) 182lb weight class. The Russian fighter will meet Italy's Roberto Cocco at the MPL's "Blood & Steel" event on November 6th in Holland. He recently took some time to answer a few questions for Muay Thai Authority about his upcoming fight with Cocco and being part of the MPL.

MTA: Artem, you are fighting Roberto Cocco in the Netherlands, how familiar are you with him as a fighter?

Artem: Yes, I’ve seen his fights. He used to be a pro boxer. He’s got good arm punches, which are a strong point of his.

The event will take place on November 6th in Holland and will feature some of the best fighters from around the world. Ky Hollenbeck is a month removed from his victory over Jordan Watson in Italy. Hoping to continue to advance through the Muaythai Premier League's (MPL) middleweight division, his next challenge will be taking on hard hitting Nieky Holzken at the MPL's "Blood & Steel" event in Holland on November 6th. Muay Thai Authority's Scott Hirano captured some great pics of Hollenbeck in Holland as he trained for his upcoming bout with Holzken.

Lindsay Scheer will be making her professional debut as well as her Muaythai Premier League (MPL) debut on November 6th in the Netherlands. Lindsay will take on Aleide Lawant at the MPL's "Blood & Steel" event. Muay Thai Authority's Scott Hirano is in Holland right now and was able to catch up with Lindsay and snap a few pictures of her training for her upcoming fight.

Fight Card for MPL's "Baptism by Fire" event on November 6th

The MuayThai Premier League's (MPL) third event "Baptism by Fire" will be held in Hague, Netherlands on November 6th. The league bouts will once again be the focus of the event which will feature fighters such as Julie Kitchen, Yohan Lidon, Nieky Holzken, Ky Hollenbeck and Nathan Corbett. In addition two super fights will take place featuring two league fighters, Simon Marcus will take on Aussi and Marco Pique will take on Ali Gunyar.

The league format works much like a soccer league. The fighters get 3 points for a KO win, 2 points for a decision win, 1 point for a draw and 0 points for a loss. There are two groups A and B, a fighter must fight everyone in their group once and then the two fighters with the highest totals in each group will face off with the winners of groups A and B then fighting in the finals. There are a total of five weight classes that are part of the league format and in the end a five champions will be crowned.

Liam Harrison talks about loss to Mohamed Khamal, not happy with judges scoring and referee

World ranked UK Muay Thai fighter Liam Harrison dropped a split decision to Mohamed Khamal this past Saturday at the Muaythai Premier League's (MPL) "Strength and Honour" event in Padova, Italy. Harrison was not happy with the decision of the bout as well as the work the referee did in the ring. Harrison was kind enough to speak to Muay Thai Authority about the judging and the refereeing that he felt kept him from getting the win.

MTA: Looking back at the fight now, why do you feel he got the judges' decision over you and in your mind is there any sound reason for him getting that decision?

Liam: The only reason I can think of is they have no idea how to score a muaythai fight. I got a count in round 1 which was total bull shit too which would have also played a factor in it.

Results and Recap: Muaythai Premier League "Strength and Honour"

 The Muaythai Premier League's (MPL) second event "Strength and Honour" took place on Saturday, October 8th in Padova, Italy. Much like the "Stars and Stripes" event that took place in Long Beach, CA it was a stacked fight card that featured some big names including Saiyok, Liam Harrison, Jordan Watson, Ky Hollenbeck and Kaoklai to name a few.

The night's lone non-league bout featured Thai fighter Kaoponglek against Fance's Charles Francois. The fight was one sided in favor of Kaoponglek who used all of his tools to pick apart Francois. The fight was eventually stopped due to a cut, but it was quite clear that Kaoponglek was on his way to earning the victory before the bout was stopped.

Fight Card for MPL's "Strength and Honour" event in Padova, Italy

On Saturday, October 8th the Muaythai Premier's League's (MPL) second event "Strength & Honour" will take place in Padova, Italy. There have been a few changes since the events original announcement, American Kevin Ross will no longer be part of the league and has been replaced by Maurro Serra of Italy. In addition to the absence of Ross from the tournament, Saenchai will no longer be fighting on the card.

The bulk of the card features bouts that are part of the MPL's league format. Liam Harrison, Jordan Watson, Saiyok, Kaoklai and Ky Hollenbeck will all be in action at "Strength and Honour" looking to start the competition off with a victory. The next leg of the MPL is expected to take place on November 6th in the Netherlands.

On October 8th Ky Hollenbeck will face Jordan Watson in Padova, Italy as part of the MPL's "Strength and Honour" event. Hollenbeck is the only American in the tournament and will look to carry his countries as he tries to beat stable of world class competition. Ky took some time from his busy training to answer a few questions for Muay Thai Authority about the upcoming fight with Jordan.

MTA: You are fighting on the Muaythai Premier League's "Strength and Honour" on October 8th in Italy, you are facing Jordan Watson. How much do you know about Jordan?

Kevin Ross no longer fighting for the MPL

Kevin Ross has informed Muay Thai Authority that he will no longer be fighting for the Muaythai Premier League (MPL). The most recognizable fighter in America has pulled out of the league and will not be participating in any of the MPL events. Ross could not provide additional information as to why he will no longer be participating in the MPL, but he did verify that he will not be fighting for them.

Ross was expected to meet Saiyok at the MPL's event in Italy, there is currently no word on who will replace Ross in the league. Ross will be fighting again on October 21st under the M-One banner when he faces Sakkedao Petchpayathai at Club Nokia in Los Angeles, CA.

Saenchai confirmed to be fighting in Italy for the MPL on Oct. 8th despite rumors stating the contrary

Rumors surfaced on Monday, September 5th that Saenchai Sinbimuaythai would not be fighting at the Muaythai Premier League's (MPL) event in Padova, Italy; "Strength & Honor". The rumors further indicated that Saenchai would make his debut in Italy at Yokkao's January event "Yokkao Extreme" set for January 21st of 2012. Muay Thai Authority has since confirmed with MPL President Clifton Brown that Saenchai will indeed be making his Italian debut at the MPL's "Strength & Honor".

Below is the letter obtained by Muay Thai Authority from Clifton Brown confirming that Saenchai will be fighting in Italy for the MPL.
