Now that Joe Schilling has claimed the WBC Muay Thai National Super Middleweight interim title (non-interim if you ask him), the first challenger has stepped up.
Brandon Banda who is coming off a victory over WBC Muay Thai National Light Heavyweight champ Shawn Yarborough in a non-title fight and now wants to fight Schilling. The pair has some history, they have fought twice before as amateurs splitting the fights.
Banda commented on Facebook that he wanted the winner of Schilling vs. Green, when asked why his response was simple.
"Joe and I have unfinished business!"
When asked about what the difference would be if they fought a third time Banda responded with the following.
"We fought twice. The first fight I wasn’t in shape. I had just moved from the Bay Area to San Diego and was training with a new corner. I came in too confident…I never even heard of Joe Schilling? The 2nd Fight I was more prepared and ready. The difference now is Joe and I our more experienced fighters. Whatever the difference doesn’t really matter to me…he has what I want."
Schilling has been a wrecking ball walking through his opposition, however, Banda isn't worried. When asked if there is anything in Joe's style that he thinks he can exploit he responded.
"Ya, the fact is we will both be entering the ring at the same weight! Joe is same height and weight as me…Joe won’t fight me at 175lb. It’s much easier to cut weight and bully people walking into the ring 185lb. So, I’ll cut the weight to fight Joe!"
Banda wasn't shy in giving his prediction as to the outcome either.
"Fight of the year! Ending in Victory with the Title in SF Bay!"
However, this isn't just smack Banda respects how and wants to fight who he feels is the best in the weight class in the States.
"Joe is one hell of a fighter and I have a lot of respect for him. We all know there are fighters in this game that go their whole career ducking the best. I’m not one of those fighters! You got to fight the best to be BEST! Oh, and if Jared Lara won’t fight Joe Schilling maybe he’ll fight me…but I doubt it!"
Joe Schilling and Banda have not waited to get the banter going, as the two have already started throwing some friendly jabs at each other on Facebook as shown in the image below. As you can see its two professionals willing to just fight and put on a good show for the fans, no personal ill will towards one another at all.
