Pictures: Saenchai vs. Kevin Ross
On Sunday, August 14th, Saenchai Sinbimuaythai and Kevin Ross went toe to toe for five rounds at Stand Up Promotions "M1 Grand Muay Thai Championship". On the line was the MTAA world title as well as the first ever WBC Muay Thai diamond belt. The cheers of the crowd rocked the place, as the fighters did each other, making for an over-the-top fan experience. American fan favorite Kevin Ross came up short in his bid to try and defeat arguably the worlds best pound for pound fighter. Results and Recap: Stand Up Promotions "M1 Grand Muay Thai Championship"
Los Angeles, CA -- The biggest Muay Thai fight to ever hit American soil took place when Thai legend Saenchai and American stand out Kevin Ross met at Stand Up Promotions "M1 Grand Muay Thai Championship". On the line was Saenchai's MTAA world title as well as the first ever WBC Muay Thai diamond belt.
In the night's main event Kevin Ross and Saenchai came out to loud cheers from the crowd and they did no disappoint. It was clear from the start of the bout that Ross was looking to press the action and use his size and boxing to gain the upper hand. The very crafty Saenchai moved well around the ring and was able to mitigate Ross' attack by clinching or moving and connecting with counter strikes. Ross clearly showed he was game, never backing down from Saenchai and consistently pressing the action. Midway threw the fight a head kick from Saenchai sent Ross to the canvas, but he recovered quickly. Saenchai built a good lead for himself going into the final round and Ross came out swinging, but unfortunately for the American it was not enough as the fight ended up going to a decision. Two judges scored the fight for Saenchai 48-46 and the third judge scored it a draw at 47-47. Saenchai takes home a majority decision and the first ever WBC Muay Thai diamond belt, as well as his MTAA world title.

Who wins, Kevin Ross or Saenchai? Predictions for Stand Up Promotions "M1 Grand Muay Thai Championship"
Once again it's time for predictions. This Sunday August 14th Stand Up Promotions "M1 Grand Muay Thai Championship" will be taking place at Commerce Casino in Commerce. CA. In the night's main event fans will see Muay Thai great Saenchai taking on American stand out Kevin Ross. Also on the card Rungravee Sasiprapa will take on Kunitaka Fujiwara, Coke Chunhawat will face Tetsuya Yamato, Malaipet Sasiprapa will look to defend his WBC Muay Thai international title against Chike Lindsay and Daniel Kim will lock horns with Carlos Ramirez.
Saenchai vs. Kevin Ross
With the WBC Muay Thai diamond belt and the MTAA world title on the line there is a lot at stake in this fight. In one corner you have Saenchai, arguably the P4P best Muay Thai fighter in the world and in the other corner you have Kevin Ross, America's Muay Thai poster boy. Saenchai expressed interest in fighting Ross last year, but the bout didn't seem like much of a possibility at the time, fast forward to present day and the fight is now a reality. There are a few things to take into account in this fight, the first being the American scoring system. Aggression plays a big factor and many judges are not Muay Thai judges, but rather MMA or boxing judges that are scoring Muay Thai fights. This could play in favor of Ross because he is an aggressive fighter and like many Thai's have shown in the past they tend to simply feel their opponents out in the first few rounds.

Diamonds Are Forever: Ross Meets Saenchai
by John Wolcott
Ever since antiquity man has understood the power of diamonds, often referring to them as the “unbreakable” mineral. These gemstones, along with their lustrous appearance, have the reputation of being the hardest and toughest of all jewels. Because of this, there’s no question concerning man’s allure to this magnificent piece of earth. With that, what better fight than Saenchai Sinbimuaythai versus Kevin Ross for the WBC to award its first ever Diamond Belt in its Muaythai division? DoesSaenchai, known as one of the best pound for pound fighters in the world, not bring with him to the ring the very same qualities as one of the most yearned for jewels on earth? Furthermore with this level of opposition, will Ross not be performing under the same pressures that are known for making diamonds? It seems to me this belt is fitting for a clash between these two combatants, each having paved the way for the sport in their own respective ways.

On August 14th Kevin Ross will take on Saenchai at Stand up Promotions "M1 Grand Muay Thai Championship". The fight is expected to be a true test for Ross as it is expected to be his toughest fight to date. Scott Hirano was on hand in Las Vegas, NV to capture photographs of Ross as he prepares for this career defining fight. Ross will be looking to capture the MTAA world title which Saenchai currently holds and the first ever WBC Muay Thai diamond belt with what should become a classic performance.

Shane Oblonsky out, Carlos Ramirez in to face Daniel Kim at Stand Up Promotions "M1 Grand Muay Thai Championship"
Muay Thai Authority has been informed by Stand Up Promotions that Shane Oblonsky will no longer be fighting Daniel Kim at "M1 Grand Muay Thai Championship" on August 14th. Oblonsky suffered a rib injury and has been forced to withdraw from the fight. Stepping in to replace Oblonsky is Team Oyama fighter Carlos Ramirez.
Ramirez, also known by his nickname "Puerto Rican Express" is a solid stand up fighter. Coming from a top camp such as Team Oyama you can expect to see Ramirez ready despite taking the fight on short notice. Ramirez last few bouts have been in MMA, but he possesses solid Muay Thai skills.
