Results and Recap: K-1 Los Angeles super fights

The K-1 super fights kicked off with Shuichi Wentz and Romie Adanza. Wentz took the fight on a few weeks notice after original opponent Andy Howson was injured and forced to withdraw from the bout. The pair had fought a little over a year ago in a close fight that went to Adanza by decision. There would be no decision this time, however, Adanza started off looking to let his hands go and 23 seconds into the round it was over. Wentz countered a right by Adanza with a right head kick that sent Adanza crashing to the canvas. It was a brutal knockout and a big win for Wentz.

Kang En and Travis Garlits went toe to toe for three rounds. En was more active and landed more strikes, but Garlits was able to absorb the punishment and answer back with a few strikes of his own. In the end the judges awarded the bout to En via unanimous decision.

Romie Adanza now facing Shuichi Wentz at K-1 in Los Angeles on Sept. 8th

Muay Thai Authority reported last week that Andy Howson would no longer be fighting Romie Adanza at the K-1 event in Los Angeles on September 8th. Howson broke his foot and nose while fighting in Japan.

Today K-1 announced that Howson would be replaced with Shuichi Wentz. Adanza and Wentz previously met at the WCK Muay Thai event at Pala Casino in September of last year. Adanza took home a unanimous decision victory that night in what was a close fight.

Although not the anticipated re-match that many were looking forward to between Adanza and Howson, this should prove to be an exciting bout.
