Take-On Productions XXIV Results

Take-On Productions XXIV took place this past Friday in New York. After the last minute removal of Travis Lerchen the main event featured Cyrus Washington vs. James Martinez. It was another highlight reel knockout for Washington when it was over as he scored a second round stoppage of Martinez with a spinning heel kick. With the win Washington gets back on the winning track after having dropped his two previous fights by decision.

In the night's other pro fight Nick Vaughn scored a stoppage victory over Marc Seno. In the third round Vaughn connected with an elbow that forced the stoppage.

Take-On XXIV set for December 13th in New York

Take-On Productions will return to the Resort World Casino in New York on December 13th with Take-On XXIV. The night's main event will feature Cyrus Washington vs. Travis Lerchen for the vacant WKA Full Rules Title. Also confirmed for the event is a bout between Nick Vaughn and Marc Seno. Brett Hlavacek will also be competing at Take-On XXIV, but his opponent is currently not confirmed.

Washington will be looking to rebound from his loss to Moses Tor Sangtiennoi at Push Kick Promotions "World Stand Off 5". Washington dropped a decision to the Thai fighter in a close fight. Lerchen will be jumping back in the Muay Thai ring after almost two years away from competition. Lerchen typically fights a weight class heavier than Washington so it will be interesting to see if their will be a significant size difference come fight night.

Take-On XXI Results and Recap

Take-On XXI took place last night at Resort World Casino in New York. In the night's main event Cyrus Washington made quick work of J.R. Hines. Washington delivered a spinning kick to the body that put Hines down and secured him the victory. Washington bounces back from his decision loss to Troy Sheridan at the Road to Glory USA tournament this past May with his impressive knockout of Hines.

In the night's co-main event Jay Matias used an elbow heavy attack to stop John Vargas in the fourth round. Despite Vargas showing some real grit by constantly moving forward, Matias consistently landed with his strikes. In the fourth round a spinning elbow from Matias landed and wobbled Vargas and the referee jumped in and stopped the bout. It was a great performance by Matias.

Predictions for Take-On XXI

Take-On XXI takes place today at Resort World Casino in New York City and will feature two pro bouts. In the main event Cyrus Washington will take on J.R. Hines and in the co-main event Jay Matias will take on John Vargas. Some exciting fighters are involved in these two fights so they should definitely be action packed. 

Here we break down each fight and give you our predictions on who will come out on top tonight.

Cyrus Washington vs. J.R. Hines
Washington is the hands down favorite going into this fight. His experience alone should prove to be too much for Hines. Washington has a traditional Thai style as far as pace goes, but is explosive. He's collected a number of highlight reel knockouts because of this explosiveness. Hines has actively fought MMA in the past few years so he isn't lacking ring experience, but Washington has over 50 Muay Thai fights to his name and that experience will be hard to over come. Washington will methodically break Hines down en route to a unanimous decision win.

Pick: Cyrus Washington by Decision

Jay Matias vs. John Vargas
This fight has fireworks written all over it. Matias is known for his fast paced, highly explosive fighting style and Vargas is known for his gritty tough as nails approach. Don't expect either fighter to back down unless they are hurt by the other fighter in an exchange. Matias has the speed and height advantage in this fight and it will serve him well. Vargas will have trouble getting inside on Matias, but will make it a fight none the less. In the end Matias should take home a decision victory, or maybe even score a late stoppage in what is going to be a fire cracker of a fight.

Washington vs. Hines and Matias vs. Vargas set for Take-On's June 28th event in New York

Take-On Productions will return on June 28th with Take-On XXI. Set for the main event is a bout between Cyrus Washington and J.R. Hines. Washington will be looking to get back on the winning track after dropping a decision to Troy Sheridan as part of the Road to Glory tournament in Milwaukee last month. Before his fight with Sheridan, Washington had won back to back fights.

In the night's co-main event young gun Jay Matias will take on veteran John Vargas. Matias recently spent time training and fighting in Thailand. Vargas lived and trained in Thailand a few years ago and developed a reputation as a hard nosed fighter with a never die attitude. It should be a an exciting fight with both fighter never looking to take a step back.

Cyrus Washington signs 3 fight deal with Take-On Productions

Cyrus Washington has signed a 3-fight deal with Take-On Productions. The New York based promotion has made headlines with their two shows at Madison Square Garden, as well as their partnership with Yokkao Boxing.

Washington has been a busy fighter the last few years. After spending time in Thailand fighting and training he made his way back to the United States. He has fought the likes of Jordan Watson, Chike Lindsay, Cosmo Alexandre, Ky Hollenbeck, Nieky Holzken, and Kaoklai Kaennorsing. Washington was also a competitor on the Challenger Reality Show in 2011. He is expected to compete on Take-On’s June event although no opponent has been announced.

Take-On Productions using Muay Thai at the Mecca 2 to raise money for Hurricane Sandy relief

PRESS RELEASE – OFFICIAL STATEMENT RE: HURRICANE SANDY AND MTATM2

November 5, 2012 New York,NY: As the Northeast recovers from the devastation left behind by Hurricane Sandy, TaKe-On Productions will use the November 10thMuay Thai at the Mecca 2 event as a way to help those affected by the storm.

“This is our opportunity to step up! We can use Muay Thai as a way to unite the efforts of our fans, and do what we can to help the people who need assistance the most” stated TaKe-On Productions CEO Mike Gasparski earlier today.

There will be a donation table in the theater lobby at Muay Thai at the Mecca 2, and we encourage our fans to bring articles to help those in need (clothes, food, etc.) to the donation table.

In addition, TaKe-On Productions will hold a 50/50 raffle at the event with all proceeds going to help victims and their families.

Along with the above efforts, TaKe-On will be donating Muay Thai gear to help rebuild CROM Martial Training (Rockaway Beach, NY) which was severely damaged by Hurricane Sandy. We will also provide free Muay Thai at the Mecca 2 tickets to the residents of Rockaway Beach, and any students of the CROM Martial Training Gym.

Finally, a portion of proceeds from ticket sales made through www.takeonnyc.com (just enter the word "donate" in the Company Field) between now and Friday, November 9th will also be donated to help residents of areas most affected by the storm.

Take-On Productions August 11th event set to air on the Comcast Network

Take-On Productions President Eddie Cuello has confirmed that their August 11th event “Battle at Bally’s 2” will air on cable television. The event will be produced by GFL.tv and will air on the Comcast Network in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware.

The event will air on tape-delay on three different occasions with the first being Saturday October 13th from 8-10pm. The Comcast Network typically averages 4.4 million viewers during this time slot. The main event for “Battle at Bally’s 2” will feature a re-match between Canadian young gun Gabriel Varga and American Justin Greskiewicz. Also competing on the card will be Jay Matias, Sean Hinds and Andy Singh.
