Results and Recap: Push Kick Promotions "Thailand vs. The Americas"

Push Kick Promotions "Thailand vs. The Americas" took place last night in Pomona, CA and it wasn't all smooth sailing. Four pro bouts were scheduled for the event but only three took place. Ky Hollenbeck was originally set to fight Aegpracha Meenayothin in a highly anticipated co-main event but Meenayothin was forced to withdraw from the bout for unknown reasons. Malaipet Sasiprapa was then set to step in on three days notice but did not get cleared as his blood work was not up to date. The bout was then cancelled the day of the event.

In the night's main ever Lerdsila "Mr. Lightning" Chumpairtour took on Siam No. 1 product Matt "Matics" Embree. From the start it was clear that Lerdsila was the superior fighter, his experience and technique clearly presented issues for Embree. Lerdsila landed his strikes when he wanted to and was able to evade many of Embree's attacks early. Despite Embree's efforts to use his hands and land some solid punches in the bout, Lerdsila was in the driver’s seat the entire fight. He was able to toss Embree to the canvas on several occasions when they clinched. Embree showed composure in not losing his calm demeanor and approach as he tried to figure out a successful way to attack Lerdsila, but in the end it never came and Lerdsila took home a clear cut unanimous decision victory.

In the night's second fight Rung Reung Chai looked impressive early on, taking the fight to Brazilian Guilherme Almeida in the opening two frames. His aggressive approach had Almedia on the ropes and at one point in the opening frame scored a flash knockdown with a left elbow to the jaw of Almeida, but the referee did not give Almeida a count. Chai slowed down in the third round an opened the door for Almeida to rally. Almeida began to press the action but Chai was successful with his counter striking. In the end Chai was awarded a unanimous decision victory.

In the night's first pro fight Neungsiam Samphusri won a controversial split decision over Ognjen Topic. From rounds one to three Topic pressed the action and connected with a variety of punches and kicks as Neungsiam was backed up against the ropes. In the fourth round Neungsiam turned things up and scored at will against Topic who hung in there and fired shots back of his own, but it was very clear that Neungsiam was in the driver’s seat that entire round. In the fifth round Neungsiam went back to having his back against the ropes and settling for counter attacks rather than being aggressive as he was in the fourth round. When the fight went to the judges it seemed Topic had done enough to win the fight but the judges declared Neungsiam the winner by split decision.
